Sad to hear Granblue has a shitty story. I've been enjoying art from and of it for a decade and recently started getting interested in checking out the story. I know very little about any of it and probably haven't even heard of some of the central characters, but I feel like I owe some character designer something for those leg straps on Zeta's summer outfit. If the main game (and I assume the anime) aren't worth it for the story, do the other games in the franchise do any better?

There are some good stories in the events, but the main story after the first arc (which the anime seasons cover roughly 75% of) is basically, in one word, unfocused. It's clear they didn't originally plan for it to last past the first arc and they pretty much abandoned it in favor of the story events midway through the 2nd arc. Literally none of the popular characters the game is known for even appeared in the main story.
