OHNONONONO
please axe it please axe it please axe it
>>284097167Nah, they still profit off of streaming, merch, and growing overseas popularity which is also outpacing the manga.
>>284097228>axe the best selling manga of all timeI know /a/ is retarded but holy fuck.
>>284097362but it would be funny
It's almost as if the audience is getting gradually older and tired of a manga FOR FUCKING TODDLERS
>>284097317>growing overseas popularityHm?
>>284097167
>>284097317>they stillthey aint season they manga
>>284097228I may accept that if they axed HXH first. Even with declining manga sales I think the franchise itself is still extremely profitable though and in some cases too, exposure trumps sales. There would be a massive backlash if One Piece was axed I imagine and it's not worth it even if the series' overall sales (not just manga) became subpar. I also think you'd see less money being put into the anime before the manga got axed.
>>284097167anyone with 2 braincells knows the ending will be "the real One Piece was the friends we made along the way"also One Piece is worth more as a merchandise, zoomers love that shit
>>284097167Is Shonen jump fucked if One Piece ends?
>>284097493No
>>284097528What else do they have if One Piece ends?
>>284097167>Gear 5 unironically killed te mangaZEHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Shonenshitters on suicide watch
>>284097167Should've ended around vol100.
>new volumes only sell a bit over half a million copies in the first week and a bit over a million in the first monthit's so fucking over
>>284097493WSJ is shifting from generic battlan shonen for years.
>>284097886Yeah but is it selling as well
they didn't like wano?
>>284098149Did anyone?
>>284097228Why would they axe the best selling manga of 2025?
It's the best manga ever made but it needs to ends soon
>>284097167oh no one piece is only the best selling manga by a huge margin and sold more than anything else this year! it's supposed to somehow be even better than that! idk how but it should!
>>284097167the iterative arc model crumbled by making individual arcs be entire odysseys by themselves, Oda shouldn't be expanding the cast this late in the game
Oda is a hack and should have editors who can tell him to cut the fat.
>>284097167Honest question; is that One Piece dying or is that WSJ dying?
>>284098781Manga is dying because they started to appeal to western retards
>>284099032OhI would have figured it'd be because it's distributed digitally nowadays
Remember when the Strawhats were prominent characters and not just props for the audience to get fed exposition dumps about literal who characters like Oden
>>284098781Physical media is dieing. Combine this with One Piece being so massive people don't have space for the volumes. Especially is Japans tine ass houses.
Ironically I find it more fun to read right now than at any point in the past 10 years probably. The shift away from Straw hats has made it feel fresh.
DIE ONE PIECE! DIE JUMP! DIE SHUEISHA!
>>284097387yjk a lot of those buys were from sunkcost
AIEEEEE
>>284097228It's still selling over a million per volume, that's literally printing money.
>>284102511Current volume says otherwise
>>284097437The fuck are you on about, nigger?
>>284102543Which is the current volume? The latest one in OP's chart is over the line of 1 million.
Need more india tier explosions in the anime
>>284097167This is overall trend in the industry because of digital. One Piece was still the best selling manga of 2025.
tourist thread
Is egghead and Elbaf that more negatively received in Japan that it's sales are now in a downhill spiral? I'm enjoying these arcs more then wano and they seem to be enjoyed by most English speakers so it's interesting how different the tastes are if that's the case. If it's not that then would it be one piece has surpassed a theoretical limit on the length of the work that it's too daunting to get into it or have stopped by physical for it due to how many volumes need to be brought? The last possibility is of course it's moving to digital sales or due to greater economic woes. If we look at the top selling manga in 2025 it's one piece which last time it was like 2018 with only 4 million which is a far cry from the sales numbers of the top selling manga in previous years. I think a more nuanced view would be that it's combination of the three to some degree. However for first point to be clear it's probably still mostly positive reception but there's probably likely more and more people critical of the work due to its length and lasting popularity.
>>284097167>what is digital manga?
>>284102912>Is egghead and Elbaf that more negatively received in Japanstop falling for bait threads. physical media sales are declining across the board, one piece was literally the top selling manga of 2025.
the average jump manga sells 20k a volume nowadayswhen one piece drops its sales by 50000% it will be fucking over for oda
Imagine being an 11 year old Japanese boy (prime shonen jump audience), and you're thinking about getting into One Piece, an extremely serialized series that people call you a speed reader over for misremembering the name of some minor character in chapter 247. Your options are a 1000+ episode anime, or a 100+ volume manga. It genuinely would take you a year of your very short existence to get through all that. No kid's gonna do that. None.
>>284104945That's why Oda says it's a-okay to jump in with Wano!
>>284104945It's not a waste if you enjoy the read. And if you don't enjoy it, then why are you reading in the first place?
>>284105696We're talking young readers. Actual core shonen jump audiences. Is an 11 year old going to want to watch 1000 episode of an anime? Read 100 volumes of a manga? Even if the idea of the series sounds neat, why would you jump to One Piece first when you could get into a million other shorter things that are equally considered good?
>>284102912>If it's not that then would it be one piece has surpassed a theoretical limit on the length of the workDetective Conan is almost as long, has half the lifetime sales, and you can jump in at more or less any point because the majority of stories are self-contained.
>>284098781Wanpiss is killing WSJ.
>>284099032How so?
>Flashback Piece
>>284097167What happened in 2022?
>>284097167The 516 million copies in circulation is the most deceptive trick. I bet only half of those are real sales.
>>284106286COVID
>>284101021Based kot.
the fanbase is dying of old age
>>284104945>>284105804Young japanese readers just jump into any point of the story and enjoy it. Maybe later they would catch up with the rest of the manga or maybe they don't. It doesn't matter to their enjoyment.Actual literale people can do this unlike 'muricans that learned to read with the three cueing system and are basically illiterate.
>>284106394>actual literate people are the ones okay with jumping into the middle of a multi decade long storyDoubt
>The manga series ONE PIECE secured the top position in the Oricon Annual Book Ranking 2025 comic category, with Volume 111 selling 1.37 million copies during the reporting period. This marks the third consecutive year and the 15th time overall that the series has achieved annual No.1, setting a new all-time record for the most annual comic chart wins by a single series.>all three ONE PIECE volumes released during the fiscal year entered the Top 10.
>>284106304oh.fair enough
>>284106394young Muricans were perfectly fine with jumping straight into the middle Dragon Ball though..
one piece is unironically the best manga
>>284097228You're out of your fucking mind if you think they will axe it.
>>284102543Even low sale One Piece is selling better than %90 of manga.
>>284106759it's literally the best selling manga of 2025 kek
>>284097167Just end the damn story already bruv
>>284097167>>284098781This thread is retarded, the decline is because japanese people just read it online
>>284097167Well duh... some people have died waiting for the ending.
>>284106864no there has been a decline in interest in general actually
