It would depend what is in the package. I'd be able to help you with choosing correct HS codes but unfortunately I need to know what would be in it even the most general term. On top of that you'd most likely have to pay via DDP shipping if you go with a private courier. But Canada Post is shipping to the US so I would honestly most likely use them because even if there's any duties old once it clears customs if it's anything above what you paid USPS will collect that shit anyways

As in you glued or taped panels of cardboard together? I have modified many boxes by cutting them to make them shorter to fit the contents better. Some of them did end up looking super beat up to the point it looks like the type of thing you get warned about for suspicious packages. A recipient also commented on it just for me to tell them that is how it started when I dropped it off. However, I have never actually had any issues with the post office, the box falling apart, or damaged contents. I've started saving boxes over the year so I will have more options, so hopefully I will be in better shape this year.

Glossy paper always makes colors look better, that's why it's the only kind used for goods, Manga/LN covers etc. It's kind of a cheat code just like how carbonation is used to make soft drinks taste good by aerating the taste. Just be aware that glossy paper only lends itself to postcards if you plan to write on it (unless you plan to make some hybrid card) as it gets absolutely ruined the moment you bend it.
Also I don't see a reason for a company to let you supercharge your current printer when it could underpower it and sell you a specialty one for quadruple+ the price.

There are obviously some that are genuinely low effort because anon doesn't care or overestimated signing up for 10 cards and panicked at the last minute. I'm just talking from my own experience where more often than not I get cards that are technically bad, but I can still tell the person who made it at tried and put in some thought. My point is just that it is better to aim to make something that will satisfy yourself rather than aiming to just reach some perception of what you think is expected based on what you receive or others post. I am making an extremely fragile handmade gift that I am very nervous to mail and I wouldn't think would survive the trip anyway. Luckily my gift recipient is only like 45 minutes away from me. Maybe I'll finish by December 24th, but by Christmas 3am, you'll get it for sure.
