Literally all it takes to write a believable smart character is to have them come up with things that would take a normal person (such as the author themself) 5 hours in 5 minutes. Yet so many anime and manga writers go overboard.
>>284125640The problem is that a character's intelligence is limited by how much the writer is capable of understanding If a smart character demonstrates their intelligence with plans that wouldn't work if they didn't get extremely lucky/predict something would happen that they have no reasonable way of knowing would happen, then that's because that's the limit of the writer's ability
smart people don't become manga writers (and especially not writer/artists)

No Game No Life is a perfect example of "Author is smart, but not nearly as smart as he thinks he is, and his supposedly smart characters get dumber the smarter he thinks he's being with them"
