My schizo theory is that Denji has trouble remembering faces in part 2 because he caught something from eating Makima, which caused him to develop a less severe version of the horseman face blindness.I've had this theory in the back of my mind for a while, would also explain why he couldn't seem to differentiate Asa from Yoru at first. We know that Yoru had the same problem with Red and Black CSM until it was pointed out to her, but after that she can differentiate them, in the same way Denji can differentiate between Asa and Yoru after learning they're different people.
