You could do without a macro but why make your life harder, just go straight for it. And the light can be any kind of light, a flash, a ring light, leds for product photography, or even the sun. That's all you need.

I've returned several books when I compared them to the Japanese ebook for how ridiculous they made some characters lines, bad translation, and awful proofreading checks.
