I don't know if that's ruder than urusai but it means the same thing, noisy. The line by the head of the clan seemed to be a little less dramatic? Hard to say. It was なんという事だ。 (Nanto iu kotoda.) which Google is translating as "What a shame." And 使役神がすべて逃げ出してしまった。 (Shieki-shin ga subete nigedashite shimatta.) which means "All the servant gods have fled.". The term translated with the catch-all yokai here was not ayakashi, it was 使役神 (shieki-shin) which seems to mean "messenger god" or "servant god". I wish VIZ didn't do that. I don't think we need him to seem more evil or we need to just use another different Japanese term to localize a Japanese term.

Original title was 鳳家の事情 with the Furigana おおとり for the first character. So, Ōtori-ka no jijō which does translate to what we see here. Furikan doesn't seem to have a not regarding the name, but the name seems to mean "large bird" or "key performer". 鳳 seems to refer also specifically to the male portion of the fenghuang, a mythical bird from Chinese myth. It does seem to have some minor association with fire, but it isn't as prominent an aspect of it compared to similar mythological creatures. I also enjoyed how much focus Hyakka got, he has a fun chemistry with Nanoka. I guess it's because they're both kind of childish.The whole Yurako story and manipulation angle between this and the last volume is one of my favourite arcs in the series. I think it really fleshes her character out in an interesting way, even though all she did was talk with Nanoka for a while. The way she always seems be very conscious of how she's being perceived, both in terms of her appearance and her actions, sets her apart from most of Rumiko's villains in my mind.And here's the timeline. Not too much to add from this volume, but I still rejiggered things around somewhat. I should probably compress some of those Taisho entries next time around.
