Problem with Naruto is that he doesn't have almost any epic fighting moments. There's vs Gaara, vs Pain and that's basically it until the war. There are so many villains in Naruto and he basically does jack shit against the vast majority of them. Hell, without sage mode and kyubi's chakra, he couldn't do shit about them he'd just get his ass beat. On his own, he's just a clone spamming retard with no real fighting ability. His jutsu list is pathetically small, his battle tactics are braindead simple and he learned 3 new things since the end of part 1. It's so lame.
