The “futuristic” looking cities in a supposed grounded series like this really left a sour taste in my mouth, made me feel like life is pointless and meaningless and zeke was right.

>>284448114In the manga the city looked far more now-ish, they probably changed it to a future city to make it feel less bitter, a more distant conflict rather than something that could be suffered by the grandkids of the cast.
>>284451738but it doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, if the cycles just continue and there will always be ears and conflict, which is art of life and without conflict no one would advance anyway or try to better themselves or the world....so all he could possibly accomplish is making it so his friends managed to get some decent lives out of it but in the process he not only puts everyone through even more suffering but also shelters them from reality of how life is and that just makes it seem like its all just pointless and no one ever has or had freedom in the end, just drunk on dreams and fantasies. and in the every end they all just give into them and its played off as something positive and then it just shows how the world doesn't actually care and things just repeat themselves anyway, further cementing that nothing really was done to fix anytbing, or maybe nothing could be fixed so having the rumbling was really pointless in the end and just caused more suffering
