They're NOT doing fine - everyone except Kita is over the hill, retired from the Twinkle series, and entered the Dream series where dead horses race. Spica is basically a retirement home, so you have to wonder what Trainer is actually training them for.As a viewer, you have to make many bizarre assumptions about the nature of umas and the state of the world. They appear to grow up to high school age (or middle if you reference the game stats), then stay there indefinitely like elves racing for as long as they please but only having 2-4 years of peak performance in the big leagues before retiring to the minor league. Unless they choose to "go into the west" like a LOTR elf and actually become an adult/uma-mama (which we never actually see a named character do, but it must happen). Given that each season is 2-3 years (many of the major races are six+ months apart, so at least 6-8 years pass in the anime), there is simply no other explanation considering Rudolf is completely unchanged during all of this time (nor any other racer, but she's the most prominent constant character).The solution is to just not care about the world being logically consistent and just accept that each season highlights a particular generation of horses with other popular characters on the sidelines to add fun without really making sense.
