There are works that came after that were no doubt influenced by ZnT but there hasn't been a good spiritual successor. So if youre looking to nostalgiafag ZnT and a few other early 2000 classics will always be your go to.

I enjoyed going from enraged to busting my gut at the utter retardation of most of the one off characters. People being willing to go to hell because they got bumped on the shoulder or because their dog died. Half the time I couldn't tell if they were trying to make it a comedy but they played everything completely seriously. A very strange show and not enough meta lore, I wanted more with the main cast and the characters trying to stop them. Still I don't regret it, I love anime for weird shit like this. You would never see a western show even attempt something like it.
