I work at toei, we want gekkomon evolve to mega instead to make this series popular, so there will be nothing in between, early concept even had tamers like child and digimon merging evolution, or mix of frontier and tamers for gekkomon to evolve, but his mega is cool, look like adult form, but is badass
This was the first episode so far that I didn't like. The writer made Gekkomon overly annoying and Tomoro too mean just to force the conflict to happen.That being said, I do continue to like the creative ways they're using Gekkomon in fights. It's like Gear 5 except with normal animation instead of schizo scribbles.

I didn't mind Tomoro's characterisation here and his reasoning behind his crashout is completely normal given he's trying to get a present for his comatose brother's birthday, something sentimental and well thought out. Gekkomon on the other hand is just a complete unlikable brat by trying to impose on every single character when he doesn't understand anything. So personally I'm struggling to identify how this is a thing where Tomoro has to mature. It kind of seems like it's all Gekkomon refusing to try and understand anything the people around him are communicating. I get that the Digimon are meant to be reflections of their tamers but Gekkomon still comes across as the one holding them back.The only reason I don't totally dislike him yet is because he's clearly depicted as a child with zero restraint. But they seriously need him to mature a little or I'm going to associate this little shit withtantrums. Being endearing can only go so far.Point being, I really hope Gekkomon is held accountable for his own behaviour and he matures in the next couple of episodes.
