>Only uses Chidori and Mudwall
>>
That's when the writing went to shit. When the idea of knowing a 1000 different jutsu meant jack shit because the enemy ninja just had a higher power level or something.
>>
The popularity of this guy during Naruto's heyday is proof that looking cool > having "personality"
>>
>>284470192
Zoomer scum abuses the poor word "personality" so much that sometimes I wish it just disappeared.

If you're alive, you have a personality. No more, no less, but the exact same amount of personality as everyone else.

End of.
>>
This whole character reads like some 10 year old kid's OC donut steel.
>he was taught by the hokage
>nobody has seen his face, he's so mysterious
>he has his super special doggo summon (based on my dogs)
>oh he also has a sharingan
>how many jutsu does he know? uhh like a thousand
>>
>>284470290
Yeah, and he was extremely popular. Like I said, looking cool (and acting aloof) > "personality".
>>
>>284470290
Yet he was useless.

It was likely just a massive bluff/lie spread around that would convince most shinobi to back down if they ever encounter him
That's the only real explanation

>I know 1000 ways to kill a guy
>only uses gun
>>
>>284470422
You can kill a motherfucker in atleast 500 ways with a gun.

Naruto is one of the manga with most retconned\not used ideas without even hiding

part2 Naruto had alot of these aura-farm hype moments that it didn't follow through on all that well
>>
Wouldn't knowing too many techniques cause decision paralysis?
>>
>>284470084
He also uses water style, fire style, and he used the rasengan too speedwatcher.
>>
>>284470820
He used them once in the entire series.
>>
>>284470084
Doesn't Naruto also just use Shadow clones and Rasengan?
>>
>>284470854
He used them multiple times.
>>
>>284470886
he was just a kid who struggled to master basic jutsu though, he wasn't famed for knowing thousands
>>
Kakashi was ruined by the chakra nature retcon but he was still a cool character throughout the series.
>>
>>284470373
He and Yamato taught Naruto more in about two days than Jiraiya did in a whole timeskip
>>
Has there ever been a well-done example of the whole "Man of a Thousand Techniques" archetype in anime? It seems to crop up a lot, and it always plays out pretty much like Kakashi: They wind up having a few techniques that they keep using, ultimately appearing slightly-above-average in terms of versatility compared to the rest of the cast.

>>284470290
I swear, you can't make a character visually distinct *at all* without someone crying about how he's an "OC donut steel." Having a dog and (allegedly) knowing a bunch of techniques isn't nearly enough to make you like a fanfiction character.
>>
>>284470373
Konoha went through an industrial revolution under Kakashi, retard.
>>
>>284470084
It's funny how the author clearly didn't want to come up with creative spells.

>>284470815
You know, it's kinda interesting that was never brought up at all. Because yeah that should be a thing, you want to focus on few select spells to be good with them, which is exactly what happened but it should still be told at some point for the viewer ninjas behave like that.
>>
>>284470439
That’s like saying Kakashi using chidori on someone’s leg is a different jutsu than when he uses it on their chest.
>>
>>284474512
That's the joke.

The Hanma family in Baki I guess, they pull techniques out seemingly for aesthetics or on a whim.
Like how the strongest guys have a weird fascination with Hand Pocket, it's a gimmick but they all find it appealing.
>>
>>284471385
Kakashi was ruined by how every villain was OP as fuck
>>
>>284470290
>Get hospitalized after every fight
Yeah....no
>>
>>284470138

Its the same as everything else.

>know 1000 recipes, but only actually like 10 of them
>vidya has 1000 different weapons to choose from, but theres only a handful of good ones
>etc
>>
>>284476078
You lost
>>
>>284476232
Didn't they retcon it by saying Kakashi was super rusty when he started teaching at the academy?
He was strong during the Anbu days but when he started teaching he lost his edge.
>>
Kakashi knew damn well the strongest skill of a shinobi: misdirection. He was a master of bluffing and pulling the wool over his opponents' eyes.

Did he really know a thousand jutsu? Maybe! Was he going to use them all right then and there? Fuck no. But he made his opponent THINK he was going to, scaring them off without needing to spend any excess chakra.
>>
>>284470084
I think when he says he knows a thousand jutsu it's a reference to his eye allowing him to copy jutsu used against him. Makes it a lot less impressive.
>>
>>284476315
What he does with that trick in the first movie is pretty impressive. Too bad the concept for his sharingan's utility changed to kamui focus.
>>
>>284470886
i don't recall naruto claiming otherwise
>>
>>284470290
That would be itachi
>Tragic background
>Killed half of Uchiha clan like it was nothing as a 15 year old
>Defeat kakashi without even trying
>Has multiple instawin jutsu
>Never lose a fight
>Got glazed by the god of Shinobi without ever meeting him
>Rarely speak
>Lonewolf (most of the times)
>That emo hairstyle
>The red eye
>That painted nails
>Bad but turned good later on (I can be yuor angle or I can be yuor demon)
He IS the archetype of every 10 year old OC's since 2004.
>>
>>284470886
He never claims that he know 1000 jutsu.
>>
>>284472777
>the highlight of this character is something he did offscreen after the main manga ended
grim
>>
>>284476438
>he was so good the plot became boring with him in charge
>>
Kakashi is a character wreathed in failures. He failed to protect his friends, he failed in mentoring Team 7 (critical failure in Sasuke's case), he failed to defeat pretty much every major villain he came across. Everybody he met said how honored they were to face him and how cool and strong and known he is, before laying him out on the ground. The man is a fraud.
>>
>>284470084
Part of me wants to reevaluate the series just to find out if he was actually cool or just kept his mouth shut after gaining his initial hype while the rest of the charter-stocks crashed around him. I'm not going to do that because fuck rewatching this dog shit series. Still, every time I see him it makes me wonder how inflated my opinion of him is.
