And then your asshole editor comes and says: ayooooo bro!!!!!!!!! why wotcha you change half the charas clothes to other thing? easy thing won'tchu say?" he/she would probably murder them in rage. That's on top of planning your own story and plot from falling apart. Is not impossible but it requires patience and skills to do so. Long shoujos often have their female protagonists changing clothes but that's because many female mangaka have experience drawing fashion.
