From the beginning of the manga till now, all that Tokiyuki has truly achieved was to exorcise the evil spirit inside Takauji. Our hero might as well have been a random priest, because now at the end Takauji won as the true hero he is while Tokiyuki dies forgotten after giving up on revenge. Following Takauji around as the main character would've been more fun, and you could explain who this random Tokiyuki guy who hit him with an arrow is through a quick flashback.
