Why isn't it more popular? Did it just fly under the radar? In my opinion it's absolute kino (ignoring that the OVA skips some source material). The fan base is very small and nobody even bothered making a doujin parody of it (this says a lot).
>>284493380I've been meaning to watch it but I think it will hurt me on a deeply personal level. I wish I could restart my life with everything I know now.
>>284493380>it will hurt me on a deeply personal levelIt will hurt you emotionally but I don't think on a personal level (no spoilers). It is worth it though. You should read chapters 220-222.5 after finishing the OVA to prevent falling into depression (might still happen though).
>>284493380probably because it sucks
>>284493380If I recall, all the episodes got dropped at the same time, which gave it no chance to have weekly threads over the course of the season to build up a fanbase like other shows, so it came and went without any splash.
>>284493847That's only the OVA.
>>284493380>Why isn't it more popular? Did it just fly under the radar?anon it aired 10 years ago...it was popular then, not so much now let alone remembered
>>284493380>protag just works at the company the show is about instead of making his own path>was actually a completely functional and competent person, only had to work on emotional baggage to lift himself back up>obligatory female counterpart that just so happens to develop a romance and make the same exact choiceI liked the premise but it did not deliver.
I utterly despise the anime. It doesn't look good, and I don't get why people praise the piano soundtrack that DOES NOT FIT the scenes. The manga is better, but the last part is kind of dumb because Hishiro barely improves herself, just coasts along Kaizaki's existence and the company is okay with it. Predator Hishiro at the end was some great catharsis to their romance.
>>284494051If you read the manga you'd know that Arata helping (and falling in love with) Chizuru was actually predicted/envisioned/whatever by the ReLIFE laboratory itself. Both of them deciding to work at the same company is kind of a story requirement for them to meet again at the end. Though I wish that the writing on Chizuru's hand wasn't discovered by Onoya and that's how they found each other instead, but that would probably be considered poor story writing by most people.
>>284493380Idk stopped watching when they grew up and started wageslaving, shit made me depressed
>>284494411>when they grew up and started wageslavingWell that's the end, so either this is a shit joke or you're retarded.
>>284494356It still seems like poor writing. That's blatant wish fulfillment which flies in the face of the idea for progression from NEET to proper member of society. The author tries to justify it by syncing up his personality to helping others, but that just makes it more forced without exploring what's required of people in his position generally. The girl is kind of better in this regard but not by much.
>>284494539Oh well what a shit ending
>>284494600Arata was never technically a NEET (he worked a graveyard shift at a convenience store). AFAIK he wasn't a shut-in either. The backstory of Chizuru is kind of vague so I can't tell. I agree that the writing could have been better at times but overall I think it's a good story.>>284494611Well there's not really much to tell, that's the entire goal of the ReLIFE program. What else do you suggest the writers should have done?
>>284493380It was a good anime, but it made me crashout and even more depressed.
>>284495913ReLIFE is very prone to giving people post-anime depression syndrome.
>>284493380It was popsular like adecade ago for some reason, I tried reading it and it honestly was a waste of time (lel)Funniest thing is I immediately forgot about the whole thing until this very moment, that's how boring it is
>>284495974Idk if it's just me but reading manga just doesn't impact me emotionally as much as watching anime. What about you?
>>284495949I need that pill so I can fix everything.
>>284493380Ugly artstyle and terrible ending where nothing gets resolved and feels unsatisfying
>>284496110What didn't get resolved? They got all their memories back.
>>284493380It was a commercial success and I loved it too, particularly the manga. It's just not the sort of story that obsessive otaku want to make doujins or spam threads about - for reasons that should be obvious if you've read or watched it. It also predates Blade Runner 2049, so it was out of the zeitgeist before it could provoke an epidemic of Goslingposts.
>>284496014It depends, most of the times I prefer manga because it generally has better pacing and anime often cuts things or changes the order
>>284493847I hate Netflix so much!
>>284493380It's overly sentimental, the underlying sci-fi premise makes absolutely zero sense if you think about it at all, and the subject matter hits hardest when you're well past your prime anime-viewing teenage years.I still liked it a lot, and IIRC it was actually decently popular, but I get why it doesn't work for everyone.
>>284496068Me too. Or maybe a slug shell.
>>284496575It's over for us.
>>284496454You kind of have to ignore the underlying science for the story, because that's not what it is about. The story is meant to be purely about the characters. If you are asking questions like:- How does a pill make them look younger and why isn't the lab raking in millions with this tech?- How does the wiretapping work?- How do the other students get their memories erased?- How, if at all, do they remove subjects from photos and paper trails? Then you are rightfully curious but missing the point of the story.
it's bad.
>>284496798>- How does a pill make them look younger and why isn't the lab raking in millions with this tech? It's a private company and the owner is a saint.>- How does the wiretapping work?smartphone backdoor>- How do the other students get their memories erased?err...>- How, if at all, do they remove subjects from photos and paper trails?AI
>>284493380I really loved it when I watched it, very cute and sweet with emotional moments that hit
>>284495949Yeah; this one and NHK ni Youkoso fucked me up.>>284493996>it aired 10 years ago...Fuck. Time flies. I remember ripping the audio and replaying it while I did chores as I was in my early/mid phase of learning Japanese.
>>284493889No, the whole thing dropped like that. It was still pretty popular though.
I hate shows about second chances in life since I will never had one...
>>284499759I don't think it ever really was a second chance again though. Yeah he goes back to high school but he's basically just wasting the same amount of years of his life he could have been spent fixing it.
