It's 3 layers of interpretation (script/direction/performance) in the way of the original instead of 1 (script).

I don't care what anyone says the sub is shit, this is quite literally the ONLY series I cannot watch subbed. Kai specifically though, OG Funi dub had both shit voice acting and shit music.
I feel like the answer to this question still hasn't changed all that much. There's the classics, like Beepop, Black Lagoon, YYH etc. that are mainly just for nostalgia. But there aren't really a lot of new examples in the last decade. I can say plenty of good dubs, but none I can say are superior

Kaguya-sama and Edgerunners are pretty good. Liked Soul Eater too. Some voices of Naruto and Bleach are good, and Yugioh was pretty fine. Maybe I have a bigger tolerance for this stuff, but it’s not grating to listen to dubbed anime.
