It's narratively set up that through rocks prioritizing his family over his ambitions that he is then rewarded as this is a positive story with the continuation of Davy's will which his goal was to bring to fruition. However as it's pointed out I think it's fair to say the way BB and Rocks go about things is very different from each other and that's why Rocks was portrayed in a mostly positive light by oda. What does this mean for BB then? Well I think it's fair to say while he's evil and irredeemable I do think oda is setting up depending on who Davy is either a semi redemption or him choosing to deny the will which to pursue his personal ambitions.
