>drinks alcoholic beverage
>forgets everything they did from the moment they drank until they wake up
Why is this such a common trope and plot device
Literally people don't just magically forget when they get drunk. I know I remember everything, I just have my thinking capabilities lowered by like 2x. Unless you're telling me its japanese alcohol folded 1000x

You don't know what blackout drunk is?
>>
reminder drinking beer is for women
>>
Alcoholism can make you do unthinkable things.

Blackout drunk is absolutely a thing, plus not everyone handles alcohol the same
>>
i've passed out from drinking too much but i still remember everything leading up to that point
>>
>>284511082
I blacked out during this year's Madoka Magica stream after a mix of leftover calvados, vodka, and peppermint schnapps

We are all little girls here on /a/
>>
Not remembering things the next morning definitely does happen with drinking but not for everyone.
>>
>>284511082
To be fair a lot of women do that regularly and then claim someone spiked their drink
>>
>>284511241
>dude you have to drink 99% proof shit water instead
>>
It's not really from the moment you drank but once you cross a threshold, you totally can enter a state where you don't remember anything of the last half hour or something before you passed out

Only happened to me once though, last day of college before graduation.
Also the first time I drank I forgot a lot of the middle part but I didn't pass out
>>
>>284511362
Then you didn't drink enough. You drank enough to pass out which is a decent amount but you could have drank more. Then forgot everything.
Somebody who paces themselves and drinks water will remember. Somebody who drinks that same total amount in 5 minutes will forget.

Only thing remaining from these binges of mine is a vague memory that i had a good time. I can't recall the proceedings of my good memories, in this way sake stole a piece of my life and now my precious memories belong to it instead of me. I drink less because it's important to be able to conjure up past memories. On the plus side continuously forgetting what i watch lets me rewatch the same thing over and over again like an alzheimer ridden geezer though an amount of humanity is lost in this exercise.
Drinking too much is definitely bad for the body but drinking a little is good for the mind.

>I drink less because it's important to be able to conjure up past memories
I can't do that, but I don't drink.
>>
>>284514397
Nobody can remember everything all the time at will. Past events pop into our minds and we hop on memory driven personal trends in the present, can't do that if the memories never formed in the first place until the fuzziness of the memory becomes its own new clear memory. I remember remembering things i can't remember now.
>>
>>284511082
I was that drunk exactly two times and that's almost exactly how it happens. I remember opening the first or second beer (or the second glass wine) and waking up with puke and a chewed up chewing gum under the pillow.
>>
>>284514816
No, I mean I can't conjure up memories of anything. I know facts about my past, but I know them in the same way I know facts about science or geography.
>>
>>284515285
is that not what memories are
>>
>>284515299
I don't know; I certainly wouldn't describing it as "conjuring up past memories" which sounds far move involved.
>>
>>284511082
>He's never blacked out
fucking faggot you've been drunk for real bet youve never drank a 26er to yourself with a 12 pack and a bunch of other shit

God damn blacking out is not fucking fun at all

I used to remember everything but recently I got super duper drunk and don't remember the stuff that happened past a certain point

It's an age thing. I'm only 25 but you're probably younger or you don't drink much

I agree that anime having a girl sip 1/3 or a beer and she's plastered and forgets everything is fucking retarded
>>
>>284515365
Guess i'm a dream kind of guy. When someone starts gliding in one of my dreams, my first thought always is "glad we finally managed to bring dream-flying to the waking world".

Why not?

I only got blackout drunk once
I remember walking miles back home completely blind, leaning on a friend's shoulder and puking the entire way
good times
>>
>>284515975
I'm 27 and I still remember everything even when I get hungover enough to dry heave for 24 hours. I imagine a lot of it depends on how much you pace yourself/whether or not you're a beer drinker versus shot psycho/genetics.

i prefer the drinking montage, since thats the most realistic
>start drinking
>there's a series of moments that stand out
>everything else blurs together
>fade to black
>wake up in the next scene
>>
>>284511082
don't get blackout drunk no matter what. drink water almost every other shot.
>>
japanese and korean beer have literally zero alcohol content
>>
>>284519620
Drinking water makes it worse.

be honest
if you drank with a girl and they got blacked out drunk and were completely defenseless
would you take advantage of the situation, like steal a few gropes on the boobs?
>>
>>284519124
That sounds lame
>>
>>284521868
Assuming I won't get in trouble, if it's a random one-night stand, maybe. If it's a girl I intend to have good relationship with, no. I would be unfair and I would feel guilty later.
>>
>>284521868
I'd take her home and make her eat a dozen hardboiled eggs when she wakes up, if you know what I mean.
