The bit with Takasugi grabbing his actual sword to slice Ginpachi was hilarious. I think this episode needs knowledge required from Gintama to actually understand it....it got a bit too meta by the end

I still really don't really like it when the show draws attention to the fact that it's a shameless cash grab with the characters self aware that they're just playing pretend student and teacher. The Takasugi episodes are by far my least favorite. It the kind of too far meta self depreciation that makes me hyper aware I'm watching slop.

It's weird that they have her, Ane and Mone prominently displayed in the background and all the songs and stuff but they literally don't do anything. It's such a weird show. I get that it's not meant to be a long term show and it's not a full adaptation but it actually bothers me how much it seems to skip even without knowing the source material. They just fast forwarded to seemingly all the Takasugi volumes when those are clearly supposed to be end game. It's like a dissatisfying worst of both worlds or full adaptation and getting to the "good parts". It definitely feels incomplete.

I don't know. It was doing too much to appeal to /Gintama/ fans rather than trying to stand out as /Ginpachi-sensei/. The manga seems a bit more faithful to its source material than the anime does (to the point of even having characters like Hedoro talk), but just like the anime....they're chapter skip with what they decide to adapt. Unlike the anime, however, the manga isn't making an effort to cram as many side character cameos as possible.

I just genuinely think that if they had more episodes and half of their eastern fanbase wasn't disappointed by the initial announcement 3z was getting adapted, I think they might've taken it slow. Maybe I'm being too hopeful, but I really doubt this spinoff will end with this season and if it really doesn't, then who knows---they'll hopefully do better at picking and choosing what to adapt while having good pacing, since the last few episodes have felt better to watch than the starting ones.
