Interest in the franchise crashed because Haruhi was overhyped in 2006 and then Endless Eight and Disappearance were flops that failed to keep the original fans interested or attract new ones.

The new volume is one of the best by the way.Also, I love Yuki so much it's unreal. I think of her all day. She became my wife after reading the novels as a teen before I even saw the anime.
