I mean, I was there when all we had was the anime so I can't hate it, but when you have read the VN and revisit it, it is the same quality as Tsukihime, Umineko, or Deen F/SN.

I read somewhere ages ago, probably in an interview, that Ryukishi would take credit for the work of his colleagues and that is why he was the spokesman of the group on events etc. Nobody can deny the drop of quality in his writting immidiatly after BT's death tho (may he rest in peace), if I remember correctly it happened around chapter 5 but they had finished chapter 6; and then there is a gap between chapter 7, where Ryukishi went into his depression phase.

The 2006 adaptation is one of my favorite anime. I watched it when I was like 13 and was astounded by it. I've never read the VN and I'm a bit scared it would ruin the anime for me since everyone is saying it's way better and the adaptation wasn't good.
