>>284559639Oh, thank goodness.I almost thought Rachel would solve a mystery on her own.
>>284559686>>284559695Ohhhhh I think I get it.The businessman lets everyone use the bathroom first because he's the one stealing. He's taking things from the hallway, shoving them up his ass in the bathroom, and leaving. If anyone else went after him, they'd notice.
>>284560709>He was willing to forgive Aya again, He was in the wrong in the first place, so he had to apologize with his false accusations.>and then even hires the thief on the spot. It's hard running a convenience store especially when he's old, he's desperate for employees, but it is a nice gesture.
>>284561829>He was in the wrong in the first place, so he had to apologize with his false accusations.I mean prior to this.Thieving continued to happen on her shifts, he told her off for it on pretty reasonable suspicions but was willing to let it slide.Thieving resumed later and he was STILL willing to forgive her.Of course he had to apologize at the end.
>>284549583NTA but I wish he did someone from Western shows, like True Detective or The Mentalist
>>284559753I guess the culprit at once but couldn't figure out why. My bad.
>>284562107I don't think there was that much to go on as for who it was.I seem to recall it being mentioned that the reason he bought razors and shit specifically was that if those were stolen, it'd limit the possible suspects, but I didn't see that in the chapter at all.
>>284559753>"OH MY GOD"!Jodie's reaction is so funny. Maybe an American shouldn't be so surprised about that though, they see the homeless all the time and have heard tales of squatters.
I guess you have to be as smart as Conan to solve this new captcha.

>>284559461Holy shit detective Ran is on the case!... this might not go so bad after all: Ran is quite keen on little details. She's not the good mindset to solve murders, but this is not a murder case.
>>284559547That clerk is either a Tuckerization or an assistant drew him. That's not Gosho's pen.
>>284559577NO WAY I JUST GOT IT NOW!I always thought that Jodie saying "a secret makes a woman a woman" was just a misdirection for the reader to equate Jodie and Vermouth. Instead it's likely Jodie heard it straight from Vermouth's mouth!
>>284559841thank anon, nothing weird going on here
>>284565755Yeah there's a particular style to these "not a suspect/victim" characters, be it from a particular assistant or it being a thing all assistant over the years can do.
>>284559316Early Vermouth is so pretty. I'm not sure how to put it to words, but she looks way more attractive here compared to her later appearances, even when she keeps flashing her tiddies 24/7. Maybe it's true that "a secret is what gives a woman her allure" and it only seemed that way because right now we only barely see a few glimpses of her
>>284565627He takes advice from the stingy granny, maybe she advised him to do that so she can do her own illegal activities there.
>>284565817It's really both, not only did the flashback come after we already saw Jodie say the quote, but we are still not told who the little girl and the killer woman are in relation to Jodie.
>>284559354>it's the secret that makes woman woman

Unfamiliar with the English localization. Why are only the main characters' names that get anglicised and not the case characters? From what I saw the previous Funimation standard was to change all the names
>>284559316Dayum, so Jodie aka Vermouth was the one who killed Haibara's dad. No wonder the girl seemed so traumatized with her.
Oh man, I can hardly wait for the next case to get posted, it's going to be a really wild ride.
>>284573172Your guess is as good as oursMaybe they thought gaijin couldn't relate to scary nihonese names so decided to change only them since they are our main characters

In defense of the owner, there were no signs of a break-in and nobody would break in a store at night to steal so little. But as stingy as he would be, it is a bit convoluted that he would bother to stake-out outside of the store all night several times instead of just leaving the cameras on for a week.
>>284573172Allegedly a mandate from Japan in the name of marketing consistency.Note that they stopped using localized names for new important characters past the point the Funimation anime ended.

>>284583487I'm surprised the threads didn't manage to spoil it for you.Gosho might lay the red herring on Jodie a bit thick, but it's actually really well done, because you can see that most things can be attributed to Araide.I do wish they showed Araide talk about the trial before this though, to reveal that little slip up.
>>284584156I thought this was supposed to be Akai's reveal. It actually happened, but I thought he was on the ship.
>>284584463>it's actually really well doneI think this may currently be my favorite one. There's so much going on, one big reveal after another, I'm reasonably sure Gosho dropped some hints for the future, and Vermouth is a very fascinating antagonist.
>>284584546Btw this also prove that anons calling Jodie dumbed down were wrong. She's always been a bit of sloppy and a klutz, as the previous case proves. She's well intended and competent, but nothing compared to many other characters.

>>284583899>Sorry Jimmy>Sunday's editorial don't think this is the end yet
>>284584899You wouldn't?
Wait, the Slasher was Vermouth???
Probably stupid question but if the FBI already knew it was Araide why didn't they just get her earlier???
>>284583925Thanks OP.I've been kinda looking towards this case to see how Gosho would tie together all the plot threads he's been hinting at, and I gotta say I'm kinda... disappointed. Him just no selling the big reveal and then dumping the exposition via Vermouth and Jodie just loudly talking (not even to, but rather) at each other was kinda weak. Plus, I'm now kinda starting to see what other anons kept talking about with regards to the handling of the BO (and other relevant plot characters) later on: everyone really is just fumbling around so that Gosho has plausible deniability not to do any actual plot development. I get why he's doing it, still kinda annoyed by it ngl (like what do you mean Ran didn't hear anything from the trunk, or that Calvados still had a gun to off himself, or that Vermouth just so happens to practically have fallen in love with Conan, so her protection now extends to Ai, or....).
>>284584463>I do wish they showed Araide talk about the trial before this though, to reveal that little slip up.I genuinely have no idea how Conan figured out Araide was Vermouth besides Araide also being coincidentally there whenever Jodie was around Haibara. It was just a coincidence Vermouth stole the files on the same day of the Bus Jacking? I guess the police was in disarray from trying to catch the felon they let escape, and Vermouth had to go to the police station on that day for questioning as Araide because she was involved in the Bus Jacking giving her the perfect opportunity to steal the files? And the reason why Vermouth stole the files on all the cases Richard Moore solved wasn't because she was investigating Conan, but because she needed to know the information regarding Araide's father's death in order to testify in court? I guess that was a really good red herring, because I thought for sure someone got suspicious of Conan's actions during the bus jacking and decided to investigate him. I should have realized whoever stole the files on the same day as the bus jacking was because they got called to the police station for questioning for that incident.
So who was Akai's target here? Was it Vermouth, but he didn't know she was Araide? Was he not in communication with Jodie that Vermouth is Dr. Araide?
>>284586092Maybe his target was Sherry since they knew Vermouth was trying to kill her. He was shown searching for Haibara multiple times since she looked just like Sherry.

>>284583686Imagine being the taxi driver witnessing this scene. Where did Haibara even hide the spare tracking glasses that even Conan couldn't find them?
I thought Akai Shuichi was a Black Organization member who infiltrated the FBI.
>>284584590>She's always been a bit of sloppy and a klutz, as the previous case proves.I think her only noteworthy sloppiness is letting Ran see the photos she had hidden in her bathroom mirror. Shouldn't have gotten so drunk 2 days before the big operation they planned to catch Vermouth.

>>284592663There never was Chris, it was just an identity that Sharon tried to use to keep living among people without them getting weirded out by her never actually aging. No one really finds it weird if a daughter looks just like her mother. In fact, "Sharon" from the very beginning seems to be another false identity, we don't know who or what Vermouth really is.
>>284583511wait, so when did that happen? How long has this charade been going on? Was it vermouth in the original bathtub-case as well?
>>284583711I like the dynamic they have going on. Gin is the autistic genius who gets easily distracted, and Vodka is the level-headed assistant who keeps the basic facts straight
>>284593117The bathtub case was real Araide. Vermouth needed his identity because he could get close to people she suspected. To cover her tracks she tried to kill real Araide, who is now under protection of FBI.

>>284583668I love it when Conan crossdresses <3
>>284583445>>284583668it's a good thing only plot-important characters can pull of these perfect disguises. It kind of breaks the setting if every potential culprit can just fake themselves an alibi at any time
>>284583818That's not a nice way to talk to an old lady...
>>284583899Get fucked, Shinichi
>>284593412True, but it kind of requires it too, at least if real cases are to be considered. You know that any established non-criminal can't be the culprit. If they are a criminal, of course they did it.You can see this with Kaito Kid cases, of course.I think it would be hilarious if say, Gin ended up being a suspect, but despite Conan's best efforts, he just didn't do it and he has to let him go.
You now remember first ever case had Gin and Vodka as very likely suspects, and Shinichi's deduction allowed them to go free and continue with their evil business.

>>284582978Wait a minute, could Medusa be Vermouth?
>>284593117Basically, that was the only real Araide we saw. I think it's more or less implied Conan and everyone else had some more contact with the real Araide, or else it wouldn't have made much sense for Vermouth to pick him as a disguise. But it was already her in the bus and in the Takagi/Sato case for instance.
