With modern technology it can finally look good
>>
I genuinely prefer all of the images on the left. Especially Holo since she actually looks like an adult.
>>
>>284563200
Only Lum looks actually better in the newer one.
>>
I think all of the modern Rumiko adaptations look better and this is coming from someone old enough to have a nostalgia debuff.
>>
we need to ban modern anime

Can't wait for fillerless Inuyasha

Lum is the dumbest they couldn't do the iridescent hair in the 80s sure
Now we have the technology to do the iridescent hair
And they just make not only the same as the old but worse
>>
Why is it so bright now, it hurts my eyes
>>
>>284563742
They look ok, but the colors seem too washed out, and they're off model when looking at the best art in the manga.

>>284563200
What's with all the fake retrofag spam?

The newer Fruits Basket adaptation was great.

There are many people who treat the original anime adaptation of an anime as the "true" version of the thing. If a new adaptation sticks closer to the manga people complain, but if it deviates from what people consider the "true" version, even if the original adaptation is the odd one out, people will complain. Hell, look at the 2017 version of Kino no Tabi. I saw people claiming Kino would have never stayed more than 3 days at a location even though there was a reason given, simply because the way the 2003 adaptation did things was considered the "true" version.

Ranma reboot is good because its an actual adaptation of the manga and not crack fan fiction like the original.
>>
>>284563857
Stop watching anime with your CRT in full bright, start using 8K OLED TV.
>>
>>284563200
UY is the only remake here that is worth a damn.
>>
>>284564719
Ranma will make more sense in two or three years when they finally get past where the old show ended.
>>
>>284563200
You know, maybe the "old good new bad" fags were on to something.
>>
>>284563200
I don't know if it's me but 90s Rurouni Kenshin anime has a unique way of colors that it kills my eyes when seeing the new typical and generic CG color adaption.
>>
>>284563200
Holo got the biggest glow up honestly. The rest are roughly equal in quality, but remake Holo looks so much than the original. They Holo appear so much cuter in the remake.
>>
The only big criticism I have for the 4 comparisons is that remake Ranma's hair is pink instead of red. Red suits Ranma so much better.
>>
>>284563200
>Don't keep up with seasonal shit
>"Wow hollywood(the west) sure has become creatively bankrupt, look at them remaking all the old things, but 100x WORSE!"
>Anime has been doing the exact same shit now
>All the fucking "bloom" on the remakes
Fuck me what a disgusting shit show, I miss when things were made to look good and not like color vomit.
>>
>>284563200
We really don't need to DB Kai the classics, especially Ranma and Sailor Moon that did a lot right, little to nothing wrong, and without whom the Early '90s feel barren.
>>
>>284563941
Furuba remake was badly needed to tell the actual story. The older anime didn't even have an interesting take on going original after running out of manga to adapt. No wonder the author hated it.
>>
>>284568364
I feel like at bare minimum when you bring these old things back, they have to grow up with the original audience to an extent. just press the envelope on why it was liked in the first place. Japan believes in the modern audience myth too much.

Ranma and Lum look good, everything else is soulless
>>
>>284563857
>Why is it so bright now
It isn't
It's washed out and lacking in saturation
>>
>>284563941
The art style in the furuba is AIslop-tier generic
The old anime was more faithful to the manga art style, and it also didn't have shit CG
>>
>>284563742
If you're really that old you should understand everything in the remakes is blown out and that the art direction is in complete shambles.

It's both. Just for you I removed the color. Besides Spice & Wolf, which was originally digital and is only about 5% different on average, the equivalent colors in the rest of the remakes range from 30% to 50% brighter. This also applies to the sclerae and highlights.

It's an unfortunate drawback of digicolor that's always been around but metastasized in the late 00s. Digicolor artists' perception of brightness is distorted by essentially staring directly at a light bulb all day whereas the paint on cels has to reflect it from an analog source. Thus the picture is the sum of the ink, physical light source, and camera, and the cel artist gets a much more realistic sense of space and midtones. Good master scans show a subtle off-white coloring on the cels for this reason.

Traditional painting also gives an inherently better sense because real pigment takes full advantage of the human eye's color range, whereas digicolor artists are probably using IPS displays with horrendous light bleed.

You expect me to believe that people who work with color for a living and buy expensive devices to calibrate their monitors would not be aware of and compensating for this fact?

Why, they're pros! Of course they do
>>
>>284570067
They obviously don't, but for the sake of argument, color calibration doesn't bypass the inherent limitations of the technology. They use them because they're cheaper and easier than traditional and they need to work with shoestring budgets, homicidal schedules, and the constant looming threat of bankruptcy, same as always.
>>
>>284563200
This is genuinely one of the least compelling arguments I have ever seen...
>>284563920
By bright he means washed/faded out retard. AKA actually dull. Why do you even post if you are too stupid to look at the images and then use your human brain to perceive them? Or are you not even human? It would make a lot more sense.

>"It's not oversaturated or dark? therefore it's washed and faded out"

I don't know how to take someone like you seriously unfortunately. It really does have to be a bot saying this. If you looked at the images provided you would see that it is faded out. There are ways to utilize that sort of lighting without making it bad, but forcibly clashing it against the standard coloring setup is just a fucking cheap error at the end of the day that no real human being likes.
>>
>>284563200
Why the fuck is so fuckign bright
>>
>>284563200
A lot of it is subjective but a lot also depends on the effort put into it. Many companies expect shit sales and return on investment. They put little effort into the individual panels, especially the mid-animation stuff.
