I enjoyed it, but not as much as I thought I was going to originally. Gonna catch up tomorrow night after the Haruhi streamI think the absolute standout was CITY and it's really hard to put anything close to it. It was pure brilliance. Everything about it is fantastic. So much love and effort went into it, so much creativity, so much passion. Kyoani proved that they're still top dog after all these yearsActually 8th place might go to food court. I forgot about that one cause I didn't watch it weekly, I watched it after it finished airing. Good show.The two that are currently on my list to watch soon are apocohotel and almachan, which both flew under my radar until they were half over. Apparently summer pockets was good, too. But I have to start working through my backlog instead of seasonals again

This year I set a personal record regarding seasonals, so I watched a lot of stuff. I'll put more thought into it when the official AOTY poll™ opens, but my 4 favorite were:1)AveMujica2)Ruri Rocks3)HibiMeshi4)Cinderella Gray Cinderella Gray is mainly there due to the first cour. This second one has been really good, but I prefer some of the later parts of the manga; the current arc of the anime isn't among my favorites. As for the rest, I have no idea yet, as I really liked a lot of series this year.In my opinion, this was the best animu year of the decade so far. I'll slow down next year to catch up on my backlog and to read some mango.>>284566342It's weird to see someone appreciate Mono that much. I personally liked it a lot, but I don't think I would put it within my 10 favorites. The production values, direction, Ann and Sakurako carried it for me for the most part.As for City, I'm a bit conflicted with it as I read the manga way before the anime aired, and some of the decisions they made in regards of what to adapt and what not hurt it a bit in my eyes. I still really, really liked it and I personally think it's pretty much perfect from a technical standpoint (I loved the way episode 5 was presented). It should have been 24-26 episodes dammit.>apocohotel and almachanI thought ApoHotel was pretty good, but I didn't love it as much as some other anons. It isn't within my top 3 of spring, but it had one my favorite episodes of the year. Overall it was a bit divisive around here. Alma-chan was pretty fun.>summer pocketsI liked it. However I will admit thst I havent actually watched that many seasonals and probably watched much much less than many anons in the board. The reason I rate mono so high is because I think it's generally excellent in all areas apart from the overall writing, which lacked focus and proper direction. However the animation, the art style, the music, character designs, character dynamic, and general moment to moment writing were superb. Even with its flaws, it's still better than the majority of anime. Mono at its worst is still above most at their best

Something can be a weak adaption but still be great in its own right when looked at separately, and as someone who hasnt read CITY I hold that opinion, that it is truly great. I would obviously have preferred 24 eps, thougheverbeit
