I love SAO, but I get why some people hate it. It's fun for the sake of it and it occasionally gets silly. There is a stable cohort that always gets triggered when such things get popular.

I only watched one episode and it was obviously very bad. Too much nonsense trying to justify the obviously ridiculous premise only made it more ridiculous, and none of the characters were interesting.
Apparently the villain didn't even have a reason for the whole thing, which seems about right from what I saw.
