Riko cooking monsters once in a while is a fun segment enshrined in a masterpiece. If I was able to watch dungeon meshit I would feel undeserving of MiA. I love Kimi no na wa. It's just a very comfy movie and the one I keep returning to, despite Shinkai's other films often being more ambitious in their message.

The ratio of new seasonal anime with interesting premises verses generic slop has never been great, but in the last 3 years specifically the ratio has been dramatically skewed towards the generic slop. Also most of the seasonal anime being made right now is being made by faceless studios with zero artistic identity or vision.
