Why did this Manga failed? No official Release outside of japan. Was it too nicche? Not Reddit enough?
It started out great then shit itself somewhere in the middle and things went downhill from there. I still remember the threads when that happened.
>woman moment: the mangais not popular? who'd have thought
>>284591186>11 volumesI wouldn't call it a failure.
>wake up one day having an 11 year old daughter delivered to your doorthe ideal
>>284591264What happened?
>>284592007Read it and find out.
>>284591186>No official Release outside of japan. That doesn't matter shit.
>>284591186Disastrous midway development and even more disastrous ending ruined any chances of the series being popular afterwards.I know you started this thread baiting for reactions OP.>>284592007Basically, the series starts on a cute premise, an otaku middle aged man is suddenly visited by a girl who claims to be his daughter, he can't believe it but she talks about his old high school love, she is the spitting image of her mixed with him, the girl talks about things only his old love would know, he then comes to believe she is his daughter.Father and daughter bond, and she hopes their parents get together again since her mom talked about him in good remembrance so the daughter believes they can get together again. Otaku dad though has a crush on the landlady of the place he lives in.All is nice and cool, then the midway bombshell development hits, the landlady has a lengthy flashback arc, showing that before she became the usual kind Ara~Ara~ lady she was a rebellious teen, she grew out of that phase when she bonded with a much older man, a mangaka otaku dad deeply respects and lives in the lodge too with then, turns out the landlady otaku dad has a crush actually is married to this older mangaka in the present, they have been so all along and no one there noticed, it was a secret unitill this flashback finished; otaku dad is fucking crushed, his feelings kept bottled, a potential love interest gone just like that.(1/2)
>>284593699Oh well, maybe the dream of his daughter can become true, he might get back together with her mom then, oops not so fast, that's when the final arc hits; the mom comes back and wants her daughter to come with her, all flashbacks where she acted nice are completely subverted, she acts very mean now and doesn't want anything with otaku dad, she is remarrying a rich dude and the bombshell reveal is dropped, she actually never loved otaku dad, she loved his insanely bizarre best friend, an even crazier otaku who's an unabashed lolicon and doesn't want to date 3DPD women, he is zany as fuck but is actually a good friend and her childhood friend as well, he always rejected her so she actually got together with otaku dad only to make lolicon dude mad, he never cared and just let their friends be, then they had a daughter and she could no longer have any hope of getting lolicon bro's attention. The otaku dad is left absolutely mind broken by the sequence of twists but his daughter at least doesn't want to be with her mom, she truly bonded with her dad. In the end otaku dad is sort of healed by a girl that lived in the lodge too, she had a crush on him and ends up having his kid, but it's implied it was just a result of her trying to desperately make him forget about landlady and his high school love, they aren't actually together, it will was a pity rebound.>>284592086No one should read this shit, the fact /a/ of old, 2007 old, loved this series before all came crashing down is such an unbelievable memory in restrospect, when the final chapters hit the threads were filled with utter disbelief on what was happening.
>>284592712When things like Genshiken was brought over for the exact premise of showing baka gaijins some of the inner workings of otaku culture, Otaku no musume-san would have been a natural pick if the early cozy premise was all what the series had to offer.
>>284593699>>284593711I wonder how current /a/ would react if Otaku no Musume-san was running today, people rage harder now but then again every other series baits with rage moments these days, would it stand out still?
>>284593778NTRfags would be rejoicing and tourists would be defending the mom's actions.
>>284593699>>284593711I still think something happened in the author's personal life that lead to these developments, the early series' tone is completely removed from what happened later on.
>>284591770Because it is aimed at men, the insane relationship twists is common with Josei.
>>284591984Too much trouble for a guy who never thought he would have a kid before.
Too old to be reading ragebait manga anymore
>>284591186>What if /a/non had a 3D daughter? : The mangaIt was good imo, it only needed more chapters dedicated to daughter/father bonding + Otaku culture before the "NTR" arcsIt failed because ancient jap/anons were even more thin skinned about NTR plot lines.Sensei plotline/flashback wasn't bad either it's just anons self inserting too hard
Took long enough for someone with horrendous taste to spew the "it wasn't so bad..." drivel.
>>284595673>A development that came out of now-fucking-were solely to destroy Kohta's chances.>Anons were just self-inserting too hard/a/ never fails to present the most retarded takes imaginable.
>>284595673Kouta was drawn dressed as a fucking clown struck is pure shock as he hears his crush was married all along, get the fuck out of here with this "anons self-inserted" too hard shit, that development was clearly done out of spite, even more obviously so as what happens in the final arc soon after.
>>284593778Current /a/ would love and defend it. Current /a/ defends Usagi Drop after all.
>>284596423>mc ends with a daughterwifeSurprised this didnt happened
>>284596945Another twist where she wasn't blood related to him would need to happen, but at that point it would be beyond torture if such a thing was revealed, Kouta got what on with two major twist, a third one like that would just push him to hang himself.
>>284591186>No official Release outside of japan.Sure it did.
>>284597235Burgers are too close minded, always forgetting Europe, specifically France and Italy's manga market are only second to Japan itself.
>>284596945That was the Sensei plotline with some details here and there (Sensei being left as the caretaker with confirmed no-blood relationship).>>284596385>>284596253Kouta was a "tragic" character and it was made so as a commentary/pun of Otakus and Bitches & Hoes (Both Kanau and Landlady's mothers)Also the bitch mom wasn't exactly mentally stable either like she raised Kanau as bait for Nishi, same with her other son.
>>284597108There was a third one anon, it's in the ending page if you catch my drift
>>284598308Yes, the other kid he ended up having, I don't see it as as twist though, since it doesn't twist anything, his rebound crush got a pyrric victory, it was more like a remedial last reveal.
>>284598225>Kouta was a "tragic" character and it was made so as a commentary/pun of Otakus and Bitches & HoesAbsolutely nothing prior the landlady reveal showed Kouta, nor the series as a whole, in that tone, it was all cozy and simple, hell, Kouta's old fling was presented as a nice memory of the past that Kanau actually thought it could be rekindled.Everything had a massive tone shift thereafter, hence the immediate complaining at the time.
