This was almost an enjoyable show story-wise and animation. Something about the pacing and impact of each story beat seemed ineffective. More interested in the story of a blademaster raising an orphaned girl swordsman after mercy-killing her mom. Also would much rather had this guy >>284623034 as the protag. I'm a sucker for a casket themed weapon, though.

>>284632809Besides the dialogue between them being good, I think it's mostly that they all played big parts. Alec is barely the main character since everyone except Red did a lot. The personalities and classes also matched up well, with two multiroles and two singleroles in the party. It didn't feel like the usual slop in the sense that things only happen around the MC and only the MC solves issues. They even split the group in every possible pair and the pairs were always comfortable around each other and doing things. The romance being fairly simple with no love triangles also helped.
