This type of original anime often suffers from similar issues.
The animation and character designs look fantastic, and the first one or two episodes are great.
But as the story progresses, the quality deteriorates. The characters become increasingly idiotic, and by the finale, the entire story devolves into utter garbage.
In the end, a huge number of viewers are left furious because their time was wasted on a trashy story.
Why does this always happen?
>>
What happen with this one?
>>
>>284619835
would fuck them both
>>
Wrong
>>
>>284619835
Because just like everywhere else, good writers are underappreciated and few.
>>
>>284619835
so fuck off, if you have free will
>>
>nowadays
They've always had problems compared to adaptations, be that pacing issues from being written to meet a timeslot rather than tell a coherent story, or conceptual issues from being worked on by a small team for multiple years with no input for if it's something the public would want to see, and single cour series always have a problem of having too much time that they need to introduce a bunch of crap to keep plot momentum but not enough time to be able to explain any of it
>>
>>284620192
moeshit gets to avoid most issues by having no plot nor expectation of a plot

PA Works did an original that's actually good earlier this year

Anon, there's never been a period of time in which all anime-originals were guaranteed to be good. Not even every OVA during the OVA boom were guaranteed to be good

When you really think about it, anime originals are no different than manga and just like manga, they are prone to losing momentum

>Why is all original anime nowadays so terrible
Also don't you think this is being hyperbolic
>>
>>284619835
>nowadays
You literally decscribed Gonzo production pipeline as it was.
>>
>>284619835
all of them are using AI to write the shows for them
>>
>>284619835
Comet lucifer and flip flappers were fun trainwrecks.
Regalia and wonder egg had production issues but at least regalia came out alright.

Not everything can be Madoka, most of the time you get go hands. But then again they have improved a lot, their adaptation of the girl that forgets her glasses was cute and fluffy enough for me.
>>284621508
I miss them.

I pity anons who refuse to take the short subject pill.

Manga at least have the justification of not being planned from the beginning. If you're able to plan 12 episodes in advance you should have a higher ratio of good to bad. And that's what people usually point to when they say they prefer originals over adaptation but it really doesn't seem to make a difference.
>>
>>284622040
>Manga at least have the justification of not being planned from the beginning
The adaptation of said anime does not desu
>>
>>284622187
But the anime is going to generally stick to what the manga did. If it strays from that it would just run into the same issue with originals where even though they can plan it still turns out shit. And even an adaptation that does its own things generally sticks to some aspects of the source, so there's more constraint there.

We've had masterpieces every year that you don't watch because you're a shounenshitter poser.

There's been a lot of good originals recently, some anons have already pointed them out. Towasa no Yuugure was just bad and poorly thought out but it's to be expected after PA works made a few good ones.

>>284622004
Looking at the recent years, 2024 had stuff I loved like GBC and Shuumatsu Train but holy shit I'm still upset about how disappointing Bucchigiri was. It could have been great but they decided to do so little with it.

One of AOTY contenders is original.
>>
Onmyo Kaiten was good from this year
>>284622004
And this list is missing yuuki yuuna and kemono friends
>>
>>284622898
Kemono friends wasn't an original, it technically had a dying game.

I forgot Matoi was an original, really liked that one.
>>
>>284622743
Turkey? Yeah, is basically Medalist or Turkey for AOTY.
>>
>>284619835
dropped this shit after the brown girl joined
never thought i'd hate a brown anime girl but that bitch was awful
>>
>>284623570
Fuck you. Amoru deserved better.

given that 99% of anime is not worth watching, why should it be surprising that 98% of original anime isn't?

Akudama Drive was a fun anime original

Blood+ still reigns supreme as a 50ep original ip
>>
>>284623121
If that list is supposed to be senselessly anal about such technicalities it fails as some listed are adaptations of preexisting toy lines or novels
>>
>>284619835
>he animation and character designs look fantastic
Nope.
>>
>>284622719
>Bucchigiri
was gay af, but the main issue was they spent like half the series being distracted by the 3rd school faction that had nothing to do with nothing and if they spent more time with the evil genie corrupting his friend and fleshing out their relationship it would've had more effective buildup and payoff
as it was the series was set up like a greek tragedy where no one was able to be with who they loved and it all went to shit in the end. but wasting so much screen time on some 3rd party dipshit who was completely unrelated to the main protag - if you even want to call him a protag I'm not sure if he even is that.

>AOTY
I haven't watched Turkey but after hearing people praise it here I will, but my vote for that is Kamen Rider. it's funny and has more heart in one of it's little fingers than half the shows this season have in their entire run
>>
>>284621948
Comet Lucifer was cool until the robot stopped being a gorilla
>>
>>284620642

Wrong.
Gonzo original anime were good for many years.
