What are you working on?
I've got blood in my sperm guys, is it because I've been scanlating too much?
>>284621728Nothing, because scanlation is illegal.
>>284621728Nothing, the next Gangan Joker doesn't drop until tomorrow
>>284621728Porn
You wouldn't be the type of extravirgin translator who either can't translate this at all, or just provides some ad hoc thing here for the use of “君” while you normally never care about it if other characters don't comment on it, all while you claim to leave honorifics untranslated because it's so important and other characters could reference it right? You do always when characters use “君” like that translate the almost-no-one-in-real-life-talks-like-that tone with something right?>>284621964What do you translate from it?
>>284621728Some lolicon half-tankBut I got bored and haven't touched in a week.
>>284621728Procrastinating
>>284622309No, I would go for the most correct translation possible: “Blimey, luv, yeh still look fit even wiv yer gob full.”"*Luv?* Oi!"
These guys have been translating history manga 1 chapter a week nonstop for a year now since they've started on Divci Valka during that time an anon storytimed it and Angolmois.
>find old translation>no finished version>I think, maybe I’ll work on this, it shouldn’t hurt. Then I notice some of the wording is a bit weird, so I think that even though I don’t speak Japanese, acting as a quasi-proofreader shouldn’t be too bad. Then I find some of the sentences to be practically unintelligible, so I think, if I’m careful, it probably wouldn’t be terrible if I made some fixes, even though by all means I shouldn’t know better, but since what was translated was clearly wrong, it’s okay. And then I kept finding unintelligible stuff, and I feel like I’m just doing MTL at this point, though I’m trying to cross-reference to make as sure as possible it’s correct. Is it terrible form of me to upload something like this? I don’t try to pretend I know Japanese, and I know a ton of people hate MTL (and I generally do as well). I’ve just put an aggravating amount of time into the project before I truly realized how much of the translation wasn’t really workable.
>>284621728Can AI replace my job yet?
>>284623090>I don’t speak Japanese,stay away then
>>284622952>most correct translationAmateur hour. If you're not turning おいしそうに食べる into some variation of "you sure have talent for making food look way better that it actually is" you should just quit honestly.
>>284621778It's actually ink.Ink from all the text you redrew over.
>>284623239It's less funny, but sure: "Cor blimey, luv, yeh could make Nando's soggy wings look tasty, the way yeh're chowin' it down.”(also, what's with the fucking IQ test captchas today, shit.)
>>284622952Hmm, I see you're deflecting with nonsense to cloak the fact that you do indeed do this and probably never had a conversation in Japanese with anyone.I woul'dn't be right about that would I?
Deliciously eat.
>>284623180Speaking of, does PR actually need to know JP? Just group-dependent?
>>284623849>captchas Would have been the best captcha iteration thus far if it wasn't for the verification [FuckTheRetadedSpamFilters] not required bug preventing me from posting.
>>284624289That was just a minor inconvenience. The scripts were easy to fix, just editing a single line you can post just fine.
>>284624255not really, but preferable
>>284621728Currently redrawing 3 volumes while waiting for the TL.Planning to finish it in two days max, if I got lucky.
>>284624289the captchas are easier, but takes more time because there's three
they're putting genuine adds on mangadex now huh
>>284627027I need an alternative to trannydex. The fags deleted all chapters from a series I was working on.
>>284627072there's weebdex that seem like a good alternative, but it's made by a guy that made a bunch of websites that hosted official hentais and got taken down multiple times. Though he always came back with some mirrors it doesn't really inspire confidence.
>>284627072just continue uploading to mangadex, the chapters are scraped by all the relevant aggregators regardlessthe dmca takedowns are time specified, so they won't take down new chapters you upload until they get a new dmca takedownotherwise batoto and mangogo I guess
>>284623162>AI be like>this kills /scan/ners and takes all their jobs
>>284621728
How was this year for (you) when it comes to scanlation?
>>284629721Pretty fucking bad.The internet I knew is dead. Everyone is on some social media now.Maybe should make an account on discord or 旧twitter to advertise my shit.
1940s Dutch manga scanlation if anyone is interested>https://libgen.li/file.php?id=112117861
bump
>>2846245821 done, two more left.
>>284627368>weebdexIt seems the website is still under construction, but he's talking about eventually restoring all the content deleted from mangadex. Would be neat if he actually manages that.
Once I read a chapter in Japanese, I lose a great amount of motivation to scanlate it. Does this happen to anyone else?
>>284621728is anyone using linux here? how's Gimp for typesetting? I wanna switch to linux but not being able to use a cracked photoshop is holding me back. I heard PhotoGIMP can give you a layout similar to PS. Are there any automatic action scripts like bubble cleaning, autocenter, exporting to png for GIMP? https://github.com/Diolinux/PhotoGIMP
>>284633766>Gimp for typesettingMade wanna die when I tried. You can't even rotate text without rasterizing it.Just pirate photoshop and use wine.
>>284633831Oh, alright, I'll just do that then. Thanks.
>>284628815I do a mix of all of these
I hate reading my old chapters cuz they look like shit but I can't be assed to redo them. They will just be bad forever and it makes me mad
I have no soul because I debind super duper deluxe hardcover editions without hesitation
What's the oldest manga you've worked on?
>>284635259One of those pre-war manga (I can't remember the name)
>>284621728Hitting my head against the wall, trying to scan books and getting little in the way of new people to process and typeset them in a good-looking way.Maybe the physical raws route was a mistake...

Naoshi Komi (Nisekoi's author) is back with a one-shot in Weekly Shonen Jump. Since this won't get an official translation, it's up for grab for anyone.
