>>284625374The ramifications of Jet Alone not being in Rebuild is actually kind of interesting because it incidentally gave Anno wiggle room to completely shit the bed in 3.0. Jet Alone is a very important episode for establishing the relationship between Shinji and Misato, just the two of them without any angels or red demons to interfere. Without Jet Alone, that rapport isn't established and Shinji's time with Misato isn't singularly special. That means Commander Misato and her horrid treatment of Shinji has an "in-universe justification" even though we the audience knows it's total out of character bullshit.

It's impossible to shine after Rei I and Rei II episodes and before Asuka Strikes! Jet Alone is a great episode but it comes between two iconic episodes.
