I feel like Kizu still does a good job depicting how Kiss-Shot and Araragi met and the reason they fell in love. It does take some thinking after watching to realize the full extent though, so maybe they could've showed it better. The fact that both had given up on life, despite vastly different circumstances, and found peace in making each other live is sweet though.

It is pretty much implied if not explicitly shown that Kiss-Shot fell in love when Araragi decided to give himself to her, which is what makes her decide to make him her subject. Araragi of course is a loner who immediately reciprocates it, to a naive degree that makes the true nature of vampires hit him like a truck. They of course get into a fight where Araragi turns the table. But him sparing her, despite it being harder for both, could be seen as love. He didn't let her die like she wished. She then gets mad at him for a period as what he did was humiliating and kind of scummy. But stuff like the ending of Bake and her reapproaching him in Nise shows that she still loves him. There is even more later like Kabuki implying that she'd enslave the world in despair if he had died but it would be too long to list it all. A lot of stuff in Monogatari hinges on this though.
