Have most of the millennials who watched Haruhi in 2006 gone now? Did they stop watching anime years ago? Anime conversation seems to be drowned out by zoomers and millennials who only started watching POST Attack on Titan. I know I'm not true old faggot here. I wasn't trading tapes or shit. But millennial anime culture in the 2000s was the best. We weren't a bunch of faggots who watched 20 shows in the 90s and then got jaded over MOE and shit.

still lurking, just posting less

enjoying the new seasonal animes like Gnosia and Tojima Wants to Be a Kamen Rider
waiting for more Bleach and Madoka
reviewing old shows like Tenchi Muyo and Inuyasha, but in Japanese this time

still know all the lyrics and the dance for the Hare Hare Yukai
still doing henshin rituals when no one is looking

Still around, just lurk more and post less now. Still think haruhi sucks though.

Never watched it but jerked it to this character
>>
I grew up watching Digimon on Fox kids and DBZ on Toonami after school. Anime is pretty much all I watch. Regular TV just doesn't interest me outside of a few titles. I'm fucking 40.
>>
>>284659296
IRC and anime was a big thing back then. I remember Haruhi spreading through the fansubbing staff chats when it first aired
>>
I started watching anime in the mid 90s but was mostly a shonenfag for quite a while, watching some other stuff like Eva or some of the stuff on Adult Swim as well. Never watched Haruhi until several years ago.

I'm an older zoomer who got into Haruhi in the mid 2010s with the novels, and I would really prefer not to have too many of my younger counterparts flood in and obsess over it.
Plus it gets plenty of recognition from a smaller subset of anime fans, and that's enough for a legacy franchise like this. It was big back then because it was new and fresh. When people wonder why Haruhi doesn't have a major fanbase, you can say the same about any other old thing. It's kinda over. The novels are still going at a slow pace, but that naturally receives less attention. Something existing primarily as an LN series is one of the best passive gatekeeping filters.
>>
>>284661373
I don't think most zoomers could handle Haruhi (the character) anyway.
>>
>>284659296
Still here. But every conversation feels like trying to swim up a waterfall of shit so I'm on the verge of giving up.
>>
>>284661689
The blackmail scene trended a while back and filtered them all. They're too sensitive from growing up with millennial female therapy-core shit like Steven Universe. A main character just doing something awful as a joke doesn't land the same for people that expect things to be emotionally sensitive all the time. These are the people that get mad at Patrick for being mean to Spongebob.
>>
>>284661943
I guess it makes sense in your world but you shouldn't make up imaginary people or scenarios.
If people existed who did what you said they did then they shouldn't be worth considering or talking about, right? Why do you bring them up. I don't want to hear about such ghosts.
>>
>>284661342
Who's your favorite character? Mine is Revaille.
>>
>>284661943
That is just fucking sad. For their own good, I hope they grow out of it.

At least Haruhi is niche enough to be free of fujoscum and yuriniggers.

Normalfags or zoomers throwing a bitchfit about morally gray characters or straight up villains raping isn't the same as rightfully criticizing shit writers actually assassinating friends or relationships when their shows should've ended long ago. Just look at Family Guy.

What is it with Haruhi fans and being insufferably smug and obnoxious?
When it's not them making Haruhi out like some profound work of high art, it's them trying to paint themselves as like the last remnants of a bygone (and OBVIOUSLY SUPERIOR) era. This isn't the first thread of this self-fellating kind I've seen.
In contrast, whenever I see people making nostalgia threads about other popular 2000s anime like Gurren Lagann or Code Geass, it's just nostalgia threads. There's none of that same delusions of grandeur that permeates pretty much every Haruhi thread.

They do give the impression they're way too sensitive. The default attitude seems to be teacher's pet, eager to tattle, etc. which was behavior that would get you horribly mocked or worse both online and off 20 years ago. To willingly embrace being a weenie is interesting but probably very temporary. Regardless, you can't discuss anything with them, they just go straight to moralfaggotry instead of disagreeing like a normal person

just lurking, only post when someone posts something really stupid. /a/ (and most boards) have gotten so slow i can check the catalogue in the morning and still see the same threads in the evening with just a handful of new bumps. somedays it feels like theres only 5k~ users on this entire website

>>284659296
I started on /a/ in 2006. I used to watch all sorts of shows every season and posted constantly. Used to stream live broadcasts of a few shows like Star Driver. I rarely watch any new anime anymore and only lurk /a/. It all comes off very generic and derivative now and nothing really interests me. I’m also married with a kid now so I look forward to showing my son my favorite anime when he’s old enough.

These days /a/ is like an old job I used to work at and now visit. I recognize everything, but all the people I worked with and memories made are long gone.
>>
>>284662468
For some reason they think they're special for liking a generic school anime that has been largely forgotten by zoomers and boomers alike

Lots of people realized it wasnt that great. Lucky star was more culturally relevant. Haruhi epitomized the highschool anime club fujo floozey that now rejects all your employment application in hr.

I'm still here. Though I rarely post on or even browse /a/ because it's a shit hole these days (the board is 90% generals and the generals are 90% schizos) and it increasing feels like I've seen everything worth seeing by now.

Us Millennial anime fans of the 2000s are the only real fans. Zoomer faggots are puritans who ought to kill themselves. Boomers never actually liked anime. They liked the few shows that got translated in the west. And haven't watched anime seriously since the 90s.

>Have most of the millennials who watched Haruhi in 2006 gone now? Did they stop watching anime years ago?
91 here. Was on /a/ when endless eight happened. I don't watch anime much nowadays because it's hard to find time to keep up with shows each season with my job, but I still read manga daily.

>But millennial anime culture in the 2000s was the best. We weren't a bunch of faggots who watched 20 shows in the 90s and then got jaded over MOE and shit.
I don't miss it. The anime kids in my high school were obnoxious autists who would loudly shout shit like how much they loved yaoi. There's a reason why it was advised that you "hide your powerless level": it was so that you didn't make yourself and other anime fans look bad by association. Pic related. I actually kind of envy zoomers for how they're able to be open about liking anime without being stigmatized for it or acting like turbo autists.

Lol. Lmao even.

Same. I stopped reading before they got to the basement. When I heard about what the basement revealed, I thought it was a retarded twist. Seeing people's reactions to the ending made me very glad I dropped it.

>Haruhi epitomized the highschool anime club fujo floozey that now rejects all your employment application in hr.
My high school had a talent show where several girls from the anime club did the Hare Hare Yukai dance. I was on LinkedIn a few months ago, and saw that one of them is in HR now. Go figure.

Same as the others, still here but not posting as much. You have less time and patience for this place when you get old, but you can never truly leave.

I remember Disappearance around this time of year and still think of Haruhi as a cultural icon. But time has moved on already, because many younger people who say they watch anime don't even know what Haruhi is.
>>
>>284662468
Endless 8 is an unironically bold artistic, creative decision. When you stop to think about what Kyoani actually decided to do, it's kind of mind blowing.
>>
>>284665308
It should have been three episodes. I will never forget the disappointment of downloading the second episode of that arc when it was airing. I thought I downloaded the previous week by accident, then I realized what KyoAni was doing. Each week of the loop was more and more disheartening. The artistic merit wasn't worth the loss of studio time that could have been spent adapting more of the series.
