There is no audience in his battle that they need to hide this grip from so apparently they do it purely out of habit which I think is neat. A swordman would normally roll up their sleeves to free their sword arm before a fight, these clothes would technically form a handicap, but these guys just fight like this is normal. Did Kogan even mention the long sleeves or did they all independently reach the same fashion sense? Just to be clear I'm not entirely sure their kimono is unusual or modified but it's rather striking that they'll even let the sleeves extend past the wrist while drawing the sword. This part can't be samurai norm.The kogan-ryuu grip isn't even that much of a big secret anyway since Suzu used it openly in an inn, this is just for extra style and respect points. These three bozos might have existed just for the sake of jobbing but I like this detail. I've read this manga over and yet and I still notice new things.

The only possible explanation I can see is that they really wanted to do a wholesome bandit threesome with Iku by bullying her boytoy in samurai style to get her in the mood. If Seigen had been alone maybe they'd have just shrugged and shot arrows at his butt, who knows.
It's weird how all the characters just spamming one technique yet you never get tired of the fight scenes in this manga.
