Based on what the OP says it would seem that there's a new AI feature on twitter...so he came to run to tell /a/ about this new feature on twitter and the drama it's causing there. I don't understand why the tourists do this kind of thing either but I guess the only explanation is that they're obsessed with twitter and spend all their time there.

The idea is that in this case since a lot of the service is kept by datacenters, rather than local tech, after the bubble bursts the companies won't pay for them anymore and so the technology will mostly disappear from sites and such.

They seem to ignore how even though the top of the line is on those data centers, the tech to use AI with lesser hardware still progresses alongside that too.
>>
>>284741653
It still wont delete the AI tech forever, so thinking a recession would kill AI for good is as stupid as thinking there wont be a recession

>>284741417
It won't disappear, but there's two inherent problems with that:
When the bubble bursts and all the big AI companies croak progress will grind to a near halt (It's already slowed down significantly btw) and will be kept barely alive by emerging small companies that will rise from the ashes and work on more specialized LLM usage with a fraction of the budget, these LLM will target the few actually lucrative use cases for "AI" in the market, few of which will be generative.
This doesn't merely entail the death of services like Gemini or Grok but also a grinding halt to the grassroot "AI" development of local models, which are again, already very slow and also suffering from a user point of view where people are reluctant to throw their lot on whatever new model that pops up every three months or so due to the dubious advancement by profit ratio, it's why for instance image generation is still firmly rooted in the now old Illustrious/SDXL world despite many newer and better models existing, FLUX was a giant fiasco and Z-Image, while better than Illustrious/SDXL is not seeing widespread adoption because to most people the leap is simply not worth it (And Z-Image is also much more resource hungry which means a further barrier of entry at hardware level creates more problems for creating a userbase).

Secondly, the habsburg AI dilemma is a very real issue for generative LLMs, this is ironically an inherent problem of the tech itself that cannot be solved and will only get worse with time, see the Ghibli piss filter debacle for a recent example of that, but that's really just the tip of the iceberg.

LLMs won't disappear, especially those applied to some scientifical fields like medicine, but the massive hype and many "public" services will, mostly because they simply cannot generate profit, partly because the tech itself has inherent problems that cannot be solved and limit the scope of the LLMs, but that's just putting it very simply, it's a complex topic.
>>
>>284739650
I don't get how moving to another site would solve the issue, anyone could just copy whatever art they post there and upload it to twitter anyways, best to just keep the larger audience of twitter and gaslit them into giving them money

I, for one, believe AI is EXACTLY what the anime industry needs to finally drag itself out of the Narou-kei era. The current pipeline of "web novel -> light novel -> media franchise" has been proven so strong that it's pushed anime as a whole toward stories tailored for that format. It's been a decade now and the pipeline still hasn't really been challenged by anything.

People are too hung up on corporate usage to realize the huge door this opens up for doujin-level creators. We're very quickly approaching the first time in history that full-blown doujin anime have a feasible effort-to-output ratio. With current technology, you can already generate an animation from keyframes.

All it will take is one good writer, a few good keyframe artists, a good musician, and a couple of good voice actors (all independent) getting together and making a product to prove the concept. If even one semi-successful work is generated, there WILL be a huge influx of them, similar to the late 90s doujinsoft Visual Novel boom. I believe this is what has the been chance of finally shifting trends away from the narou standard.

The issue is in the meantime we're losing possibly an entire generation of artists. I've seen so many people on Pixiv et al give up their own art and only post AI slop now.

GenAI can only copy, it can't come up with anything new, so we're going to stagnate then possibly have a lack of artists for a bit if/until a new generation is inspired to work on their own art.
>>
>>284742906
I think many went to there, then fled again when they started getting banned and harassed. The true based artists just use Pixiv and have an X account for PR. The thing is that Japanese spent the longest time using their own local systems. Many were also probably content simply posting their art to an art site and not using something more complex. Moving to western social media other than YouTube is relatively new. As a sidenote, I kind of wonder if western autistics using Japanese artificially bloats a statistic like that.

I love AI, but I also like drawing so I know a few things about both. It can make pretty images and edits that are pleasing to look at. These could be great for stuff like companies without artists, bulk assets for games, in-betweening, etc. But a lot of it won't fully compete with handmade art for quite a while. Many still need a skilled artist to know what to prompt and make edits to ensure something is aesthetically appealing to us, as AI can't see it yet. It can end up nailing some things as it can see patterns. But you'll quickly realize what bottlenecks it when you require something that needs feeling and such. AI with this ability would essentially need to be sentient, true AI. I'm often optimistic about human progress, but I think 2030 is a bit too soon for that. There is no point in anyone fretting "muh artist security" over this either as sentient AIs would entail a lot more. You'd, of course, also still be able to draw your own stuff to ensure absolute control over the process. I agree the obsessive hatred crowd doesn't have a bright future. But I just wanted to explain more about AI.
>>
>>284742968

There's nothing obsolete if it's functional. Twitter's style is terrible for finding images. No real tagging or an easy way to see everything to tell what's not labeled. Sometimes comments about the image with more information can be on additional posts so if you do search for images and find something that might be missed.

>That's a huge nothingburger

The problem with the anti AI crowd is that they always try to downplay the technology. "It's just autocomplete", "it's not actually creative", "I zoomed in and you can see the AI slop because of these pixels".

It's completely opposite to the lived in experience of everyone else who has actually used it. It's insanely impressive. It could not improve a fraction more, and it would still be the most impressive technology of the last 20 years. The fact that you can use completely natural language, like a single sentence, and get an edit like that out is pretty crazy.

There's a lot of reasons to dislike GenAI right now, but saying "the technology is worthless actually" is just retarded.

I'm not saying it's not impressive. It is. But this isn't a new big improvement. You could do that with image generation models long before today ("long" meaning months/years which is huge in AI terms).

My point isn't that AI isn't impressive, it's that the paradigm changes only happen in the areas where AI applies properly. And generating decent pictures or edits isn't something AI has struggled to do recently. The issues with AI image generation come with consistency, intricacy, vision and such. You wont really be able to generate a good manga, even with NanoBanana. You might fool someone with a few pages, but good luck fooling someone for, say, an entire chapter.

Not necessarily. There are fundamental limitations as well as plateaus.

AI can get very good at talking and convincing, so much that it passes the Turing test, but actual AGI/life will probably never, ever happen.

Art and picture generation is another thing. I can see improvements happening and consistency increasing but when it comes to doing EVERYTHING by itself I'm not so sure we'll ever get there. It might find its place in the workflow and pipeline but I doubt there's a future where it produces quality long form content on its own. Pic related is AI art, but the artist does a ton of manual work as well, he's not just prompting. I think that's the endgame for "good" AI pictures.

I think it can happen, but not with only the way they've been doing it now and it could take multiple plateaus after new developments to get there. Eventually it might need other types of hardware and something more analog for part of it just for efficiency reasons, Trying to predict all of that is pointless or they would have done more it it by now instead of spending more on incremental improvements.

If japanese artists are really moving to bluesky, then I have no idea what to do. It's like a situation where a child had to pick which parents to stay with after the divorce. I don't want to have to use multiple platforms, and bluesky interface SUCKS.

(This isn't assuming the worst case scenario where jap artists nuke their twitter and erasing years of art to evade feeding the AI)
>>
>>284749206
Some of that erasing already happens anyway, but it would be a lot more at once. Someday it will all be gone for some other reason if it doesn't happens soon. There's a lot that can't be easily found, and sites like that don't last forever. Changes in rules could mean some get deleted years later for other reasons.
>>
>>284749206
They probably won't stay there for very long when they find out how censorship happy it is

Why do so many artists go for bluesky when that shithole is even worse for artists?
>>
Problem with AI watermarks like Glaze:
Dead on arrival. Any adversarial poison made to btfo one specific model falls flat against anything else. Different training data, different architecture = your "protection" does nothing.

Problem with Bluesky:
To quote someone on Xitter: Art platforms need a massive lump of passive consoomers to actually function. If a bunch of artists flee to Bluesky, cool, they can post all the art they want... to each other. No lurkers or casual scrollers, just artists circlejerking while being too busy drawing to even look at the feed. Place turns into an echo chamber ghost town and everyone crawls back to Xhatter eventually.

Problem with the "problem":
It went from 3 clicks to 1 click. Anyone who wanted to ratio/ragebait artists was already doing it. now it's just easier to make them seethe.
>>
>>284751296

>>
>>284751729

Because the alternatives are too niche and artists need an audience to actually do their job, duh?
Of course they'd move to the next most popular social media instead of little closed gardens with no actual userbase and no hope of ever growing big enough to sustain a professional career, how is this even an argument?
Not to mention that the vast majority of minor Jap social media is (rightfully) closed to the west so what's the point in going from the sea to a small pond when your entire purpose is to show shit to as many people as possible?

What's the alternative really? Mastodon? It's too fractured to work and most people don't want to be associated with the platform that is responsible for things like Baarag either, in fact that would be terrible for everyone involved given Baarag is already struggling to survive under current public scrutiny as it's down more often than it's up and various nations are also blocking access to it to the point most people need a VPN to even access the place.

I've never seen this on xitter before, no-one has, but I'm guessing it's some kind of AI online art editor. Anime girls get sucked in at one end and come out with fewer clothes at the other.

I wonder how indian obsessed /pol/fags cope with this.
Actually fuck that, MELLI KURISMUASU

>xhitter permanently loses users
never happened
they always come crawling back after 2 days of engagement numbers being 100x smaller

>can
Since that didn't happen, you didn't have to go on a gay crusade screaming at the void for 300+ posts...you could've ignored the thread. You thought your gay crusade was helping things? Truly unbelievable.
>>
>>284739629
So now we can get loli pr0n pictures that don't have that weird shiny effect?
>>
>>284750793
I got banned for doing that so...

i regret zooming in to get a better look

>artists don't want a dedicated art posting website, they want a twitter-like microblogging platform so they can get dopamine from engagement with their fans
It's actually retarded for nips to think like this really.
>>
>>284755693
They always come back after getting banned on bluesky for posting the most harmless content ever.
>>
>>284757143
When will they realize that misskey (run by japs) is the answer?

How the fuck is still up hours later? This site really likes to play favorites with moderation

why

Skill issue. He could have prompted for flat.
>>
It's really funny the most vocal AI proponents here are also lolicons.

>goes to bluesky

And then the cycle repeats

So what's the best way to do this without a twitter account?
Just copy paste an image in, tell the AI what to do with it, and presto?

Google Gemini works pretty well, but I don't know how good it is for lewds.
>>
>>284757905
Because I'm tired of getting banned for off topic when I'm discussing something on topic but this blatantly off topic shit can still survive
>>
>>284757949
All of them are severely nerfed when it comes to lewds. The only one I've ever heard of being ok with lewds and also not complete garbage is NovelAI.
>>
>>284757769
As a cunnysseur, I prefer only the finest of hand drawn lolis. However a good gen of AInny can make due when I want a specific fetish to fap to (such as loli oyakodon, which there is criminally low amounts of from real artists).
>>
>>284757769
there's so little good onee-loli stuff out there AI is all I got for that .
>>
>>284757949
kys ai troon
>>
>>284757769
Because there's barely any new lolicon artist posting new lolicon content.
Lolis have been banned and shunned so much that it has become a very niche thing.
>>
>>284754987
You are retarded. You are severely overestimating how much "water" a 100 word prompt a data center uses. And notice how the original posts adds up all US datacenters as if ALL US datacenters are AI, and not every other important internet services.
Without to mention that you are severely overestimating how much is a million of gallons of water.
>>
>>284760037
This whole water usage issue is so stupid. It's not like the computers need drinkable water, just make them build their own salt remover and pump water from the seas.
>>
>>284760037
That actually may be, but it's a fact that LLM use a disproportionate amount of computing power, and with the AI hype, the computing power is growing exponentially, getting entire new datacenters getting builds, even making building new datacenters (for AI) news worthy.
>>
>>284760143
Nah, they'd rather use drinking water to avoid the salt water, which will corrode all the mechanics of the cooling system faster.
I don't know who came up with the water use argument and whether it was just bullshitting with an agenda, but there's definitely a point in AI trash wasting resources.

Yeah it's bullshit
>>
>>284760143
>just make them build their own salt remover and pump water from the seas.
That's extremely expensive, when you can just build your datacenter nearby a river.
