Completely legal stuff, don't worry about it.
>>284785395Lesbian brothels aren't the answer to everything.
>>284788705Are you sure?
>>284788705I have yet to see an example for this wild claim
(Wont look at the posts yet 'cause I didn't read it yet, but I don't want this to die before I read it, so here I am.Back to page 1 this thread goes.)
>>284778957Shien sticking a cig through her hat seems like an outrageously bad idea.
(That's odd. On page 9 again when a new chapter came out.)
>>284790440Where else would she put it
>>284777089And thus the involvement of our new character begins.
>>284786037Thanks. I love having the clean version.
>>284793849It'd be funny if this chapter is the entire arc for Rea for now and it just switches to a different witch that does heed the call.

>>284799243For sama into English. Or just keep it as is because it's too much thinking for probably controversial results
>>284799527I was going to keep the sama, so what part of it was localization? If stylish is "accurate" I'll just use that.
>>284796808She's flat but she's still got a little in the back.
>>284799723Didn't localize anything there. The issue is inconsistencies in how honorifics would be translated and understood. Like how Tama and Mode address animals with -san, although in that case, English has an easy to understand equivalence of Mr., Ms., etc. being used in the same way. Last chapter, foreman-sama was translated to lord foreman given her alleged royal origins and that she's working under him, but if she's going to call everyone -sama then that would be troublesome since -sama should probably have been left as is last chapter as well, or you'll encounter situations like she addresses animals with -sama and whatever else and it sounds somewhat awkward in English if translated, not to mention potentially having to come up with all the appropriate addresses for each instance. The only localization is here >>284777273>It's right on the tip of my tongue, but...More literally, it would be>It's come out up to here, but...Which is also what she's gesturing, but it might not be intuitive to the reader what she means so it was translated to the English idiom that's very descriptive of the feeling, although not exactly matching visually
>>284800257Ah, I see what you mean now.I kept it as Lord Foreman, and also kept it as Mr. Crow, despite using chan and san pretty much everywhere else, so I don't think it's worth caring about that too much.As for the idiom, I think I'll try and fit the literal translation in somehow. This really only matters for anyone who cares about reading it on mangadex.
>>284800025You gotta bend her backwards to get anything showing.Cute butt, but stand her up straight and those hot pants are going to start sliding off.
>it's a tasteful fan service chapterYes
>>284802752Why is anyone hating on Tama's kino art
(Still gonna wait for transcribe anon before I read the chapter)
>>284777158>iya~ kusekke samazama desuI would translate that more as "eww, so much tangled hair" or "eww, so many tangles"
>>284799527They are European witches, why the fuck would they use "sama" even if they are in japan? Just replace it with "Sire", "Mister", "Missus" or whatever, or at least mix it a bit. For example, Shien haven't used a single honorific yet and Mode only used "Chan" when talking about Tama. Just treat them as yet-to-assimilate-in-a-foreign-society kind of characters.
>>284805604Iya~ here is a sort of calming down conjecture, not negative. In fact he says this a lot in his blogs.Samasama here is doubling up on sama like kami-sama and what else, a sort of grateful expression, like Thank God...Now, I'm no hairstyle connoisseur, but tangled or unruly (dictionary definition) doesn't really fit the tone as above. Cowlick could fit since the hair seems to harden on its own into this whirly shape when it dries. Or maybe just say curled hair, idk.>>284805813Having thought about it for a while, -sama here could be Sir chicken I suppose. Although Shien and Mode's lack of honorifics or otherwise is expressing exactly the connotations of Japanese honorifics when they're present. Shien is extremely casual to everyone so far with an air of being more mature than them. Mode sees Shien as her equal, but very chummy and doting on Tama despite being deadpan.
>>284805931If you ask me, the only one who would logically use honorifics is Tama, cause she spent quite a while in Japan if we go by small bits like her mentioning being a Kunoichi, at least among the witches shown for now. Shien seems to doesn't care about really submerging herself in Japanese culture and is just casual to everyone like in the old days, Mode lived in a fucking sewers and we can say that her use of "Chan" for Tama is just a doting affection carried over from their days in Europe, which doesn't necessarily translates to "Chan" and not just something like "Tama, dear" (Too far-fetched, but you get the point). Rhea seems to be mindbroken considering she looks like she doesn't recognize witches and anything related to them as of right now, and the other witch we saw in chapter 4 haven't been properly introduced yet so we can't say anything about her.
>>284805931>Samasama here is doubling up on sama like kami-sama and what else, a sort of grateful expression, like Thank God...https://jisho.org/search/%E6%A7%98%E3%80%85um... wow... that's two really different meanings of the same "word"this is way beyond the usual dekinai territory
>>284806012Sure, but the author is approaching all this from the Japanese perspective for the Japanese audience, and you're losing out on the undertones if you take out honorifics wholesale >>284806025https://kotobank.jp/word/%E6%A7%98%E6%A7%98-511928>[接尾]《接尾語「さま(様)」を重ねた語》人や物事を表す語に付いて、自分にとってその人やその物事がありがたいものであるという意を表す。「梅雨時の晴れ間はお天道てんとう様様だ」It's like ○○様様, Thank God for ○○
>>284806073You can always just replace them with your native language analogues like I mentioned already. And it's not like you're approaching it from such perspective as to appeal to Japanese audience, be a tad bit more creative. I'm not saying to go for a shitty "Complete localization" tier of translation, but try to find a decent, if not perfect (Which is always impossible) middle ground. Or are you going to say that sixteenth century European witches would use japanese honorifics in sixteen century Europe like pic related?
>>284806138Trust me, I do care about these things and making it as seamless as it can be in the target language. If you read my TL of chapter 1, I changed "country" to "kingdom", accounting for the time period. However, it's clear that the author himself is either not fully aware of such matters or doesn't place that much importance on them so the work is entirely Japanese-centric and that has its consequence for attempts at a faithful translation.Personally, I don't really translate much so maybe the ideal of the translation circle escapes me. I'm only doing it for this one out of love and I want the readers to be able to get as close of an experience to the original as possible while accounting for not just spoken words, but also the undertones, which is very prevalent in a work like this. This is not meant to appeal to the Japanese audience, obviously I don't expect any Japanese to read these and praise me or anything, but for the people reading to have as much of the information intended presented to them as possible. The interpretation is up to the readers, and I expect them to have knowledge of Japanese culture to understand why things are as they are, or learn to.That's why you'll see that my translation is very close to literal compared to others. The matter of honorifics is difficult, but by my principles, I will readily adapt anything that has an English equivalent expression and the nuance is captured all the same, while what doesn't will unfortunately have to be left as is to preserve the original intention.
>>284806073>https://kotobank.jp/word/%E6%A7%98%E6%A7%98-511928I don't think you understood me. I was blown away that the other meaning existed. It's not basic stuff.

What's this pile of rubbish really worth after inflation? 200 years worth of minimum wage, zero investments, no real estate, not even basic bitch savings account. Realistically that's, what, 5 years of income of a skilled blue collar laborer?

>>284816909But if she spent time getting trained in any field she would spend less time doing odd jobs for money
>>284820725If you're immortal and also have to hide that fact, odd jobs may genuinely be better than to risk blowing your cover due to your formal training or even just similarities in how you work. Better to just carry the odd sandbag here and plow a field there, you have time after all, let time work for you.Your main concern should be investing, washing and transferring that wealth, not playing Scrooge in your witch cave with actual currencies of all things instead of at least solid gold.
