I kind of get it. I was born in 2002 and never got into anime until I was deployed as an 18 year old. The vast majority of stuff I like was made in the 2000's or early 2010's. Things that were on adult swim or Toonami that I never bothered watching. Even though I never watched them at the time, they still remind me of when I was younger so I feel nostalgia. How many 2020's anime have you actually seen?

The highs of the 00's are really great, and many of my favorites are from then. I think there were more outliers during that period too.
