Chapter 53Previously, Shima got caught up in the affairs of Kokubun and his lover, the young hostess Xiaolan, when it started to effect business after getting on the wrongside of a Solar Electric executive named Miyaji. It turned out that Chen, another Hatsushiba employee, found out that Miyaji had been paying Xiaolan to spy on Hatsushiba and leak company secrets to him. Kokubun, pissed, confronted her and decided to end things but a distraught Xiaolan threw herself overboard from the boat that they were on and Kokubun dived in to save her. After that, they seemed to realize how much they loved one another but there was still unfinished business. Kokubun went to see Miyaji, a former kendo champion, in order to settle things man-to-man. With kendo swords, the two had a duel which Kokubun won and seemed to close the book on everything. There were other things too such as the death and possible suicide of the owner of a manufacturing group when it was decided that Hatsushiba would be cutting them off. Shima also paid a visit to Nami and Nancy in New York as Nami had given birth; there he met his grandson, Kotaro. And there seemed to be more relationship trouble as an employee named Shigeta met his fiance Kaori for a date. Kaori was wanting him to come back to Japan as she was tired of waiting for him, but during their date Shigeta spied Chen and thought something was odd so followed him which caused Kaori to decide to leave him as it seemed as if he was putting business over her.
