>>284796210And now, volume 9 of Henjin no Salad Bowl: A Bodyguard's Work + A Musician's Work>Livia is still at the rural ryokan where she's been helping fight off the harrassment of local Yakuza. After beating them back once again she discovers the online reviewbombing still hasn't stopped. Once she realizes everyone in her company knows where she is she asks them to send her phone and credit card. The next day a group of three show up to deliver her belongs (her bandmates Noa, Asumi, and Novelist/Lyricist/Marketing director/her former homeless friend Suzukiri). They suggest putting on a concert to help attract guests to the ryokan, and while at it they shoot a music video and some cover photos (which is what these illustrations are from).
>>284796236A White Knight's Work>The concert and video shoot end up being a huge success, but the surge of visitors only lasts for the weekend. Livia goes alone to the local Yakuza's building to get them to stop the reviewbombing. The Yakuza head lets her know that it's just part of a plot to get the ryokan's owners to sell their land for cheap so it can be redeveloped into a resort and he offers Livia a slice of the pie. Livia leaves without making a decision and has a meeting with the band and her second in command Sogabe (He's the guy beside Noa and Brenda on the cover, he used to be Mikoto's childhood friend/underling and Livia inherited him when Mikoto died, he's the one really running Livia's conglomerate).>Sogabe brings up that it's a good opportunity, but instead of just being partners in the deal, they should use Livia's political connections (she saved a diet member's life once) to backstab the other parties after they get in and take all the profit for themselves. Everyone's on board with this plan, but the ryokan's owners (3 beautiful sisters and their MILF mom) overhear. The party try to convince the owners to sell the dying property, and when they seem hesitant to sell their home, Livia brings up that she honestly doesn't see why a home or hometown is so important. She's been driven out of not just her hometown but her home world, and is living and enjoying life just fine. With this reassurance it gets the owners to open up, and it turns out all of them were really just holding on because they thought the others in the family valued the ryokan when they all really wanted to leave and live in the big city. Livia's company promises to find them a good modern highrise apartment in Gifu and that's that.
>>284796258Neo Grotesque>The night after deciding to sell the ryokan, the ryokan owner goes to have a drink with Livia in her room. She comes on to Livia, and it turns out she used to be a prostitute in her younger years. Livia's entire purpose for this trip is trying to stay away from her worldly desires, but everyone she has told this to including the band have laughed at her and said she wouldn't be able to keep it up. Livia ends up proving them all right by accepting, rationalizing that it's ok if they come on to her instead of the other way around. Eventually the owner's daughters find them and... also ask to join it, so it's an all night lesbian orgy. >Livia wakes up in the morning, disappointed in herself and filled with guilt that she can't control herself. She goes to the bath and finds Noa there. Livia asks Noa for advice, but Noa's opinion is that Livia is incapable of changing herself and not being a degenerate. Noa encourages Livia, saying if the world can't accept her as she is, then instead of changing herself she should simply change the world. The proof that Livia is loved the way she is is the huge amount of people following her. Morality is relative and arbitrary, Livia should rape and pillage and take what's hers, using her strength, her charisma, her body, her connections. This seems to flip a switch in Livia as she accepts her own degeneracy, pledging to LIVE EVIL and take over the world. She bites into Noa's back and heals the scars, covering a tattoo from Noa's cult days and marking Noa as her first loyal retainer.
>>284796289Gifu, Center of the Universe>Back in Gifu, Sousuke, Sara, and Yuna are having a hard time trying to find a new place for the detective office after their current building was decided to be torn down due to flooding damage. One day, Sara returns from Tokyo with news that she's been appointed the new CEO of her talent office (this happened at the end of the last volume). After some stunned reactions, Sara also says she's convinced the former owner they should expand and build branch offices, with the first one being in Gifu. Long story short, the talent office Hasegawa Productions buys a building in Gifu (very close to Livia's company's new building), and one floor of it is given to Sosuke's detective office/Sosuke and Sara's living quarters for no rent.
>>284796325Butterfly Effect + Life Will Change>Former assassin from the other world and current unemployed bum Alba gets bored one day and steals a replica of Oda Nobunaga's armor from the Gifu castle, resuming her activities as "Phantom Thief Peony". She sends some selfies of herself wearing the armor to her new best friend/rival Yuna. Yuna recives the photos just as she's watching the news of this heist and realizes Alba is behind the theft. After talking to Alba she realizes an offhand joke comment she made was the reason Alba decided to steal this armor in particular. Feeling responsible, Yuna gives Alba the idea of stealing a specific painting in the art museum then calls in an anonymous tip predicting the crime. >On the police side, Rookie detective Houshou Masaki receives the tip and instantly recognizes the voice on the other side. She's sure it's the "JK Meitantei" Yuna who helped her solve an attempted murder case months before. She goes to interview Yuna and asks her why she would know about the predicted crime. Yuna is sweating bullets realizing her life is over if she's connected to Alba, but manages to bullshit her way through without causing too much suspicion and suggests letting the thief steal a replica while putting a tracker in it.
>>284796345>The next night, Alba manages to easily evade the museum's security and gets away with the painting before realizing something is wrong. She discovers the tracking device on the replica and reasons that only Yuna could've given her intended target away. She goes to find Yuna to have another talk, and eventually she agrees to not steal the painting. The next day, Yuna sees a news report that the previously stolen armor was returned, but along with it is a note that says "As a sign of respect to my rival, Meitantei Naganawa Yuna, I have returned this treasure - Phantom Thief Peony". Yuna calls Alba asking what the hell she was thinking, and Alba says it was to link Yuna forever with Phantom Thief Peony, otherwise Yuna would sell her out to the police (she's right) if Yuna's reputation wasn't on the line. Alba: "I'm gonna have you play with me for a looooong time."
>>284796366Tel Megiddo>It's moving day for Sousuke's detective office, the grand opening of Sara's talent offices' branch office, and also Yuna's birthday. So the entire gang is having a celebration at the cafe on the first floor of the new building (Raiteu, the cafe on the first floor of the old building ran by two people from the other world, decided to also move to this building). In attendance is Sousuke, Sara, Yuna, Cafe owner and worker Kira Kazushige and Rinri (other world people, unbeknownst to everyone else in the cast), Brenda (+ her butler Inuyama), Haruka, Sosuke's Dad, Sara's school friends Ryoko and Yayoi, Sara's partner from the talent office Himari, and the old CEO of the talent office Hasegawa. >Himari literally only knows Sara and Sosuke out of the people at the party, but she starts picking fights with Sara's other friends right away. Sara's lesbian harem quickly establish a hierarchy, and Himari acknowledges Yuna as the "leader", much to Yuna's displeasure. Brenda and Haruka sit at a table together, both still not quite connecting the dots that the other is here because they're interested in Sousuke and not because they're business partners, both looking at Yuna sitting at the same table as Sousuke in jealousy. Former talent company CEO Hasegawa is getting along well with Sousuke's dad, and Sousuke's dad tells him about some new arrivals at the local brothel, a mother with her 3 daughters (it's the ryokan owners that Livia bought out...).

Yuna introduces her to Sara since they've never actually met before. Alba picks her jaw off the ground after realizing she's been this close to her original assassination target this whole time. Sara doesn't notice anything, but cafe worker Rinri comments menacingly that Alba's hair ornament is very nice (she knows the family crest, also being from the other world originally), and Alba seems to get the message, sweat pouring down her back.
>>284796421>Everyone gives Yuna her birthday presents, Sara got her a deerstalker cap and Sousuke gave her an Inverness cape which together make up Sherlock Holmes' classic look. Everyone is teasing Yuna about the outfit, and Yuna ends up blurting out that she does like the gift, "because of course I would like a present from my crush!" So now that everyone's heard it, she goes along with it and confesses to Sousuke on the spot. Sousuke rejects her saying he has someone else he likes, and with the example being set and everyone elses' eyes on him he walks towards Brenda and Haruka's table. Sousuke asks Brenda out on the spot and she accepts. Haruka is confused and in shambles, thinking he was coming to confess to her. The party continues in a festive mood as we timeskip 2 more years.

She's here as a guest speaker at a world fair/expo, having gained fame as the young CEO of a talent agency while still in high school. A silver haired figure strolls up beside her. Livia: "It's been a while, Sara-sama." Despite having their two companies in very close proximity, this is their first reunion in 6 years (since the moment shown in the anime during Christmas when Livia gave Sara a figure of herself with her own pubic hair!). Sara congratulates Livia on her company going public, and Livia asks if Sara wants to do the same with her talent agency. Sara says she doesn't want to be vulnerable to hostile takeovers, and then brings up that many companies around Gifu have been having scandals leaked then being bought up at rock bottom prices by "someone". Livia also brings up buying Hasegawa productions but Sara obviously refuses.

Livia then says she was glad to have gotten out from that "boring detective"'s office so she could be where she is now, which really triggers Sara as she aims a small magic explosion at Livia. Sara: "Disciplining a mongrel who's stepped out of line is a former master's responsibility. Livia Do Woodys, I will have to punish you with my own hands." Livia: "Don't blame me if you get burned." Sara: "Oh? You dare raise you blade against me, traitor?" Livia: "My only master is my lord Kenmochi Mikoto who's watching and protecting me from hell. I don't usually go out of my way to crush others, but to make my former master submit is yet another novel joy for this body to experience." Sara: "You scum." Then Livia quotes a poem from Akechi Mitsuhide written the night before he betrayed Nobunaga at Honnouji as the volume ends.
