What is the worst page layout you have ever seen in a manga?
webtoons mog manga for obnoxiously bad layout
>>284799150that's /co/
>>284799150>>284799150The above mogs desu but in general ye
>>284798868This desperately needs colour. Layout and paneling for colour and B&W page are baaically two different sub-skills.
>>284798868What's wrong with this? It's simple but not confusing or anything? While I think the criticism of One Piece's page layouts for a while is overblown, it's worse than this I'd say. For me, some shoujo manga seem to sometimes just not do paneling at all and pages can turn into a cluttered and confusing mess. I've seen it quite a bit but unfortunately don't have any examples saved. Trigun Maximum was also very hard to read at times, though I don't remember if the page layout was the issue or if it was purely the flow of the art and the mangaka being allergic to putting tails on speech bubbles to help you determine who's speaking.
>>284799928>What's wrong with this? It's cramped as fuck, it looks like the characters barely have any space to breathe because Miyazaki wanted to shove as many panels as possible in a single page.
>>284798868>NausicaI'm amazed I can identify it at first sight. It's been five years since I read the manga.
What's wrong with this? It looks like a basic, functional layout to me. At bare minimum a bad layout should do something to pointlessly create confusion or otherwise detract from understanding the page. Pic related isn't even the worst thing ever, but it serves an example. The author created a layout that doesn't really work. If there was an actual reason to be confusing in the context of the story that would be one thing, but the guide arrows show that it's not even that. Just a mistake that the author tried to correct afterwards.
>>284800029you can still recognize a very distinctive series after FIVE whole years !?
>>284798868Sousou no Frieren as a whole.Especially considering how cinematic the anime adaptation is.
>>284799992Looks fine to me, I've read comics denser than that. I suppose it is cramped compared to most manga. Nausicaa has a stronger influence from western comics.
What do /a/ think of Watchmen's 3x3 panelling? Is it lazy? Is it outdated?
>>284798868I love Nausicaa, but man is it too dense. You really lose your reading flow when you have that many panels to individually go through.
>>284800723It's fine for style, but using differently sized panels for emphasis only makes reading more enjoyable.
>>284798868It feels very western here, like if I didn't know that this was obviously Nausicaa you could convince me this is from some obscure European comic
>>284800093Frieren's paneling is pretty spartan and dull, but I didn't find it distractingly bad
>>284798868Porn series almost always have dreadful layout to the point that most become unreadable
>>284800826If the panel heights didn't have slight variations between them, they would look quite like five days of newspaper strips stacked on each other. In terms of art style, Miyazaki had great admiration for Moebius and it shows in Nausicaa.
