Yeah but you probably need some general context for it all to make sense since the mechanics of a grail war aren't really covered as this one is screwed up from the start.

Assuming you know the above then you might want to watch the Lord El-Melloi show or at least read a summary if you are lazy since a couple of the characters are carryovers from it and some of the scenes cutting away from the city take place at the school. There's also some references to Fate/Zero since a lot of this story was caused by the events in that show.
