S1 had its fair share of problems and was getting worse as it went on but still remained watchable. S2 (Gintama') feels like a huge downgrade in every aspect thus far and comes through like cheap clapbait. Does it get better or should I cut my losses?

>>284807875I read the manga years ago but forgot all about it so I'm checking out the anime. I liked some early arcs like the Umibozu one better than something like the cats one. The later joke episodes aren't that funny, or maybe the non-stop "look guys shipachi did the tsukkomi thing for the 10000000000000000000th time!!!!" gimmick gets old. Also the "recap episode but it's actually a joke" gets spammed way too much after a point.

>>284807491My first exposure to Gintoki was the "J Stars Victory VS" videogame and I remember disliking him right off the bat since unlike the other gag characters in that game (Bobobo-Bo-Bo-Bobo, Arale, Taro, Lucky Man and Ryotsu) he came off as trying way too hard to be funny (Shinpachi would scream almost everytime Gintoki did an attack and his words would pop up on screen while doing so, Gintoki could fly using a tiny motorcycle, he could launch a kamehameha and so on), never got into the series because of that, I just found him too desperate to be funny

Its not the kind of series you should binge watch anyway. Go back to watching seasonals, nerd
