>fulfills his dream of being a famous hero, literally even little kids knows about him
>fulfilling job as a teacher at the most well-known school in the country
>still does heroics using his super-suit
why did people hate the ending again?
>>
The people who hated the ending were people who already hated the series.
>>
>>284809633
Deku didn't even build the suit himself like Iron Man. Now he's just an average guy.
>>
>>284810413
Yeah, just like how Spiderman is just a normal guy. That's the whole point. Anyone can be a hero. Deku got One For All mostly through pure luck. He was just in the right place at the right for All Might to notice him. Had it not been for that, it would've likely been Mirio who inherited it.
>>
>>284810413
he's an average guy with tremendous courage and heroism and a significant wealth of experience fighting against villains

No. He failed and became a teacher.
>literally even little kids knows about him
Deku didn't even get a statue
>fulfilling job as a teacher at the most well-known school in the country
>fulfilling
>still does heroics using his super-suit
A pity suit given to him by his bully. He didn't build it himself or anything. Deku has no volition of his own and this confirms it. If All Might didn't hand him a quirk he'd still be a sadsack watching heroes work and if Bakugou didn't give him a super suit he'd still be a sadsack teacher watching kids succeed where he failed.

I will always have a problem with the narrative pretending that Deku was particularly more heroic than literally everybody else and how him looking pathetic is somehow inspiring. It's frankly insulting especially when you think about the better characters around him. Beyond punching harder he didn't even try to cause any of the necessary changes in society. In the end he was just a delivery vessel for OfA which there were many other better options

All Might is still the goat and by the end even Urakaka has a better case since she's actually trying to fix things. Even as far as the teacher thing goes, which still is a complete asspull that he never even began to develop, teaching kids already good enough to get into UA is kinda silly considering his background. Imagine if he didn't randomly bump into bowlkid. I guess the main point is Deku is an insanely underwhelming character in the end
>>
>Deku managed to save the world from the embodment of evil and his puppet, becoming the hero he always wanted to be.
>Series is CONSTANTLY telling you there is more to being a hero than hitting things, like helping others (Such as teaching kids).
>"Deku sucks because he gave up on his dream and should've been beating people up in a world where someone could randomly blow your head up by looking at you instead of being a teacher lol"
Also though forced, the suit does *kinda* make sense if you consider Bakugo was crying when he saw Deku lost OFA back in the hospital after the final fight, so it makes sense he would've wanted to show he wanted to make amends for how long he treated Deku like shit.

I don't give a fuck about Deku
Uraraka deserves way more credit for addressing the true villain of the series - bad parenting.
>>
>>284816392
You do realize there's a major difference between teaching kids shit like math and reading and teaching the next generation of sociey's future defenders righ?
Hori should've just had Deku say at one point before Chap 430 that he would wanted to use his experience to help others if he ever lost OFA. Doesn't need to say he would become a teacher but close enough

What happened was a clusterfuck of fixup chapters trying to remedy a final serialized chapter that had Captain Useless looking depressed, being upbraded by Aizawa, and a Void Decade which had no character growth despite the mid-teens to mid-twenties age up.
>>
>>284817216
>>284817295
Quit projecting. Ive seen the same "why does everyone not like the ending boo hoo?" thread for a week straight.
>>
>>284818591
Because people whined about the ending for months after the manga ended, and now anime-onlies are catching up and realizing the whining made no sense.
>>
>>284809633
because he is supposed to be a liability with that 'supersuit', he hasnt done any hero shit in 8 years since losing OfA. everyone else, even fucking Mineta are more of a hero than him, not because they have powers, but because they ACTUALLY WERE IN THE FIELD all that time.

if they wanted to sell us on the supersuit, Bakugo shouldnt have made it a secret, and Deku should have worked on it day one. Testing, learning how to use it, giving input, training. but he didnt do any of that, he CANNOT be a Top5 hero like that.
>>
>>284819337
How isn't Deku a hero?
>>
>>284819586
did you even read? he has been out of the game for OCHO PUTOS AÑOS. and yet we are supposed to believe he mastered that suit, a suit he knew nothing about in such a short time he became world's #4 top hero?

sure, he can be considered a hero because he did defeated/saved shiggy and all that, but HE. CANNOT. BE. A HERO. NOW!
>>
>>284819337
Didn't he still have OfA for a while after losing it? And we don't know how long he had the suit for it could've been years. Deku could've gradually transitioned from OfA -> supersuit as he lost his powers
>>
>>284819675
You do realize the fucking point of the series is that there's more to being a hero thanhitting things right? Even Deku's friends weren't going around beating people up in the epilogue. (Granted there's the robber in 431 but there will always be crime even when things are more peaceful)
I am kinda with you with the suit though but still.
>>
>>284819946
you are correct, im not denying the themes and message of the series.

my problem is the time and how it correlates to Deku becoming a hero again. and it just cannot work. specially when again, whether if its them beating criminals, saving the environment, or even giving lectures in children's classrooms like Ochaco also does, everyone has been doing hero stuff far longer than Deku did. and i mean FAR longer.
>>
>>284820021
Didn't he only become Rank 4 after a few months after getting the suit?
>>
>manga ends
>everyone agrees the ending is shit
>anime ends
>suddenly ending defenders
Why is this so common?
>>
>>284820021
the series never bothered to reconcile the difference between a "true hero" and a "pro hero" which makes Deku's situation confusing to go along with his general passiveness. It's trying to have it's cake and eat it too at the end so it feels shitty. The whole "anybody can be a hero" thing feels tone deaf when it's immediately followed by "here is this real hero stuff though"
>>
>>284820047
He was in the 90s before the suit in the new ranking system Hawks developed since it includes civilians. He became 4th after the suit when he was able to do more proactive hero work.
>>
>>284820159
A "pro hero" deals with stuff that regular people can't or are having trouble dealing with like villains and major disasters like landslides or not enough rescue workers and firefighters to save people from a major fire.

A "true hero" is someone who helps others because it's the right thing to do IE the old lady at the end of 429.
>>
>>284820589
>He was in the 90s before the suit in the new ranking system Hawks developed since it includes civilians.
Sorry forgot that since I only read the manga. Was it added to the anime?
>>
>>284820836
anime finished. It should be in one of the epilogue episodes from after the battle.
>>
>>284820892
I forgot, Deku being mentioned in the 90s might be from chapter 431, or in the ultra age book or the fan book. I don't remember.
>>
>>284809633
>latefags who weren't there when the actual ending came out now come in here going "erm, its fine actually?" after reading the updated ending
Mass Effect 3 syndrome
>>
>>284816467
Peter is also very smart. To the point that he'd be a 2nd Reed Richards if he keeps it up.
He's both a science guy, got powers from a spider and he created his gadgets and suit by himself.
Not to mention he created his trademark web and web-shooters.
>>
>>284810902
Spider-Man was never a normal guy.
Peter Parker was already gifted with great smarts before he got his powers.
He's all but normal even before getting his powers.
Throw out that current Marvel shit because Spider-Man is more than With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility.
>>
>>284809633
>super-suit
This right here. Not only does Deku not have any quirk of his own, but what he does have could easily be stolen and duplicated by any evil or greedy organization, making him essentially useless in that scenario.
>>
>>284821937
Worry about that for a sequel.
Even though it's going to be aliens.
>>
>>284815288
that is real in your mind
>>
If its not damage control, why is chapter 431 episode months after the show finale? It feels last minute. Its fucking weird.

>>284809633

Really wish All Might had one last appearance in his muscle form in the final battle. Nothing prolonged, maybe literally a single scene of him beefing up to save Deku or something, to show "the ember fades but never completely vanishes" sort of thing. Would've been a great swan song
>>

Ironically, Deku and everyone DID manage to do something most superheroes never have: usher in a new era of peace after Deku 100% destroyed the embodiment of pure evil (Though his real body and mind got turned into a fetus awhile ago).
There isn't even a civil war or someone randomly becoming a facist cunt.

If it happened to Cap It'd go one of two ways
>A) be content with everything and just be phased out to let a new generation take over after a long career of saving the planet instead of just one year as an inexperienced rookie
or
>B) He'd chip in for that high-tech replacement leg from the get go and get back to saving lives instead of spending 8 years on the sidelines
>>

>>
>>284827139

>>
>>284826949
I disagree.
Cap, even crippled, would still be a veteran soldier with decades of experience fighting everything from regular dudes in funny uniforms to aliens, a seasoned tactician capable of coordinating and supervising superpowered individuals, and a genuinely charismatic leader who's not afraid to tell someone to fuck off if he thinks they're being retarded, no matter how powerful said someone is.
Even if Ultron rewrote reality so that Cap can only ever have a wooden peg leg, Cap would most likely stay with SHIELD and coordinate/train Avengers teams, plan against Hydra, AIM or whoever is trying to take over the world on that particular Monday. Hell, it wouldn't be impossible for him to just become full time director of SHIELD.
>>
>>284827839
We're more or less saying the same things here, although "phased out" was the wrong word for me to use. Adopting a mentorship role, maybe? Dunno.
Either way there's no scenario where he'd be out for eight years like Deku was; he'd still be heavily involved with superheroes whether it's in a commanding role or having dealt with losing a limb and getting back into action after some time to recovery.
>>
>>284827963
>Either way there's no scenario where he'd be out for eight years like Deku was
Yeah, it really boils down to EIGHT FUCKING YEARS problem. Which by itself is just one last symptom of Hori's main problem - complete lack of sense of scale and pacing. I honestly believe that basically every criticism that people throw against MHA can be perfectly explained by that. The manga has, without exaggeration, a completely bipolar approach to it's narrative. I could go on a rant and elaborate, but even if we focused on Deku's ending, all complaints about it basically disappear if you don't put a timeskip before giving him the suit, or at least give Deku The Teacher some spotlight before throwing in the suit.

courage is fighting villains at a disadvantage.
coward Deku runs and hides like a pussy if he isn't handed for free a Quirk or a Suit that's better than all the villain's quirks and all the other hero's quirk.
He's not brave. Men are brave.
>>
>>284829573
>if he isn't handed for free a Quirk
How about seven of them at once, AND he can use them better than the original owners (but not really)
Deku storyline is completely schizophrenic, he's both overpowered to all fuck but at the same time has weird limits that end up not mattering in the slightest anyway (oh he can't go 100% cuz it will break him, but uuuh he can fight at that level anyway because seven quirks).
>>
>>284826905
Honestly, comparing Deku to Steve Rogers is just a massive fucking insult to Steve. Steve never really wanted to be a super soldier or hero, he just wanted to serve his country during WW2, and couldn't because he had a shitty body.
>>
>>284809633
"This is the story of how I became the world's greatest hero."
>>
>>284809633
You mean Bakugo and All Might fulfilled Deku's dream.
What did Deku do to fulfil his dream.
Work his way up from nothing as a Gen Ed/Police Cadet/Apprentice? Change society so people stopped valuing the best superpowers as what counts as heroism? Or nothing at all and only be a hero when he's given the best quirk or the best suit?
If you guessed C you'd be correct.
>>
I think I have never dropped a manga that I liked so much because the MC never grew up from being a little bitch and remained a little bitch the entire series.
Even when he became extremely OP with all the extra quirks, he became a fucking edgelord for a brief moment and went back to acting like a bitch.
Deku is my biggest disappointment in recent manga and I wished that Mirio had become the protagonist.

If Deku DID end up a passive bitch at then end then he would've done nothing against Shiggy for One but stand around with his finger in his ass while everyone else does the work and then actually proceed to work at McDonalds crying every day after losing OFA.
