Got it as an early Christmas present, read it all this week and it's great. It presents the reader with an absurdist/existentialist understanding of human purpose, but it's implicit and never pretentious in doing so.
The chapters where their vehicle inevitably broke down, and Yuuri went from being the passenger to leading the way by holding Chito's hand until the end, were the only possible fullfillment of the story's themes, even if depressing

By the way, this was kino. Probably my favorite of those self-contained segments that precede the "main" part of each volume

it is often misunderstood as nihilistic, but when you look into it you realize it's actually absurdist. one must imagine Chito happy

Finished it recently and I liked how committed it was to that this really was the end of intelligent life on earth. Many have small bands of humans or successor sentient species. girls last tour also has that in the mushroom people and sentient machines but they also all plan on dying soon.

The final masterpiece.

yeah, there is one hint of hopelessness in every volume and you know what's going to happen ultimately, it's even in the title, but it's still kind of depressing watching them go through the final chapters

>One boy
>Women and two girls
>A huge three-dimensional world where even on site there are large supplies of everything, including food.
>They could easily continue humankind
>Instead of sticking together, they split up, which was tantamount to suicide.
>At least the AI girl was honest and became an hero straightforwardly.

I bought the volumes as well, it's a really good story and the depth gets lost in most people reading it.

As far as I'm concerned, it was something like this:
>What the fuck are you doing? How can you split up in a situation like this? If you want to die, just shoot yourselves.

Imo one of the very best manga from the 2010's
