I recently started watching this, it's very endearing and funny. The context does make me sad, but it also helps me understand why onii-chan was so lenient with Umaru.
She's not even THAT bad.

I don't care about the relation to real life.
She's still annoying and a pain.
Thank god there are no more seasons.
A shame about the actual sister, however.

People already love Umaru and it's considered one of the better series in its genre which is why it's had longevity like flavor of the month stuff.
I am sure people will go back and praise it more, but it's hardly an under-the-radar series. It would have run for many more chapters and had a second season if the mangaka didn't find it too hard to keep writing after his sister passed.
