Why does this show about little girls doing ballet go so hard?
>>284826115Junichi Sato at the peak of his game and he had something to proof after his pupil Ikuhara made Utena
>>284826115Because it’s meant to be a deconstruction on the nature of stories and fiction itself.
>>284826128Ok, now it makes a lot more sense.
>>284826115Because all the armpit fanservice made me so hard.
>>284827030Is it though
>>284827030You keep using that word, I don't think you know what it means
>>284827800Anon please
Duck
>>284829732Do not fucc the ducc
>>284826115It's a genuinely well crafted showEvery single reference, be it to literature, music, or even fucking architecture, has a reason to existAll of the important characters hit the right spot, and their hardships are both simple enough for kids, and satisfying enough for older audiencesAll of the plotlines are beautiful and wholesome, but also respectful towards the audience, and the writers are never afraid of delving into fucked up shit, while still keeping it R-ratedAlso, the cat teacher it's literally me>>284829877Don't tell me what to do
>>284830122>Also, the cat teacher it's literally meI didn't want to say itbut ten years laterkindayeah
>>284826115Because little girls doing ballet makes me so hard.
10,000% obligatory.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-p2lzNx5aD4
>>284832407Where's the Under Ninja one that's this punchline into Cromartie Inspector Gadget?
>>284826115Good plot progression. Excellent story. Interesting mysteries. Breaks the fourth wall and continues to be interesting. Wonderful character writing. Fan service off the charts. Its aged very well I just wish the first half had a better resolution but its still a fantastic series regardless.
>>284826115One of the best authors of his generation, probably the Stanley Kubrick of that era>>284829877B-but I love her so much!
>>284826115I think no other anime of magical girls will ever be able to compare
>>284826115
>>284830122Also this.
>>284826115The show is great but it's hard to recommend IRL because of the name, I really wish I could make more people appreciate this masterpiece.
>>284836260Yeah its a shame, its like The Princess Bride. Most men will ignore how great it is due to the name.
I remember finding the opening on youtube one day and thinking it sounded really beautiful, but there was this melancholy to it that made me not want to check out the showHow long is it? I might go back on that decision
>>284836541Yes its one of the long ones, not too much but enough to convey the story. Definitely worth the watch at least once in your life, desu. Its far more than just a cute show. Also Drosselmeyer stands as one of my favorite villains in all time.
>>284826115Princess Tutu and Shadows House seem very similar in tone.
Drosselmeyer is my favorite character, he's Kyubey if he loved his job
>>284830122>the writers are never afraid of delving into fucked up shit, while still keeping it R-rated>keeping it R-ratedDid we watch the same princess tutu?
>>284838616True I don't remember anything R- rated stuff
>>284839467
>>284836328If it was localized by Disney they would call it "Quacked!" or something
>>284839467>>284839515
I need to rewatch it
Stop loving evil women!
>>284839807Cute duck
>>284840237I did after I married and then divorced a huge bitch. Its not like in my doujinshi. Now its only happy rays of sunshine like Ahiru for me
>>284840336yeah because the attractive parts of evil are confidence, smugness and lust/perversion. not actually being evil.>>284840237>evil>why? has bigger boobsi'm convinced
>>284839467>>284839807
>>284840336You picked the wrong evil women, my wife is evil to everyone but me.
>>284840661Kissable duck bum
Marriage material
Kraehe has legs up to her neck!
>>284826128How well known and regarded is Princess Tutu in Japan? Compared to Utena?
The elites don't want you to know this but the ducks at the park are free. You can take them home.
>>284830122>pic I do that.
>>284844839Fakir is such a cool guy. I wish I was like him
>>284842201She's a ballerina, it makes sense
>>284829877I love Ahiru, I want to marry her properly before fucking her
Stop sexualizing my daughterOnly my son in law Fakir is allowed to do that
>>284848579Fakir is a good boy who marries before deflowering
>>284840661I bet I could hold the whole thing in one hand.
>>284836328>its like The Princess BrideAhiru is an amazing female protagonist. I'm not one to complain about the damsel in distress trope but Buttercup was such a passive and useless character that she's practically a prop. I couldn't find it in me to care about her at all.
Is the English dub for this actually good?
FAK YA
>>284853023It's alright
>>284851434You don't watch that story for Buttercup, but for the knights.>>284849382Honestly its the most sensible choice. Ahiru is a good girl who deserves the best
>>284826115Christmas is the best time to annoy the family with ithttps://youtu.be/lYeDxshrYN8?si=v29Yh4dXl-BImWa6&t=04>>284837507I think Shadows leans a bit into the Horror a bit more than Duck does with its subversion but I am partial to both. Though recently reading Kuro has my greatly concerned what sort of list I'm on at this point, it makes sexy duck posting look tame.
>>284837507>>284854402fuk meant to also say over time my mind becomes more enamored by how similar and absolutely dissimilar Madoka and Tutu are. Like once you get past the deconstruction/it's ebic dark level and even the cursory themes, there's just so many different points that feel like affirmations and jabs and explorations of what Tutu started that weirdly made me realize that almost all of the key members were 40+ years old. Not that age should dictate quality or depth, but it really did illuminate that outward simplicity and similarity is very easy to take for granted - as demonstrated by all the countless ""dark"" magical girl shows that didn't understand half the assignment and come off as amateurish at best.
>>284840237Ballerina outfits make me feel funny
>>284854657Understandable, her outfit makes me feel funny too.
>>284854657>>284854673"haha funny"?
>>284853023>>284853235Emotionless Mytho sounds better in the dub, but sub is better overall. At the very least, the en cast adored Tutu. Multiple dub outtakes, translated inserts, and extras explaining ballet and reasoning for translation was an unexpected amount of effort from ADV back in the day.Cute Ducks:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4zui-1lm7VE
>>284853023do you even have to ask
omg Homu you stole her outfit give it back
>>284854183>You don't watch that story for Buttercup, but for the knights. No matter where the "don't watch it for x" argument is used, the thing is she's a major part of the narrative so she can't be ignored.
>>284856974Quack quack mother fucker >>284832407
[Duck voice] Fakia!
>>284826115Wat
I watched this and it is far from as cool as you're pretending it is.
