>>284854557 I loved the early manga and even if the manga got toned down, the stories got shorter and the art got less detailed as it went on I still like it, I remember that I found out about the anime after I read various manga volumes (I own those physically) and I was so fucking disappointed on how fucking toned down it was, they censored more than just nudity, they removed all cleavages in the first few seasons, they removed some realistic guns and replaced them with cartoony ones, they removed the WW2 references and the WW2 pilot (both shows up in the PS2 videogame as a stage tho), they changed some lines like Moa being told to kill all humans no matter what being changed to "show them mercy whenever you can", the removal of the gory gags, removing the blood, the smoking, the removal of Paul being a pevert, changing Koyuki's fundoshi to a swimsuit, changing the alcohol to some alien soup and so on, the extreme censorship was due to TV Tokyo and when they show reran on Animax they produced a series of shitty Flash animated shorts that didn't remove the cleavage, the pantyshots or even cigarettes This remake can only improve upon the 2004 adaptation since that show set the bar so low, even if the remake is just as censored as long as they don't cut half of the gags like the 2004 anime did and keep the art style closer to the manga as they seem to be doing going by the promotional poster this remake will end up being good still, one thing I can give the old anime is that it did had a good soundtrack so there's THAT

>>284857476Cuz the anime nerfed all the frogs to make them seem more useless in one way or another, the only character that got more OP in the anime would be Alisa, she's almost unbeatable in the anime but lost more than half her fights in the manga, you could argue that this work on "gag logic", but the anime also changed some of the wackier chapters to be more "emotive" and wanted the viewer to take itself seriously at times, I won't mind if the remake focus more on the crazier side like the manga does, the series works better that way
