If they were committed to adapting the manga version they could've waited for it to conclude and rewrite it to fit a 2-cour season, but by then the hype would be dead, so instead they gave it to another studio that adapted what was available including a filler arc.

So this isn't a pertinent question, but it's something I've been curious about. Why did they bother introducing Garou when they already had a martial character who was positioned as a potential rival to Saitama and could easily have been the one to undergo this entire arc?
I might actually watch the second cour if they adapt the webcomic, as long as the animation is a tiny bit better.
