How in the fuck did Yude go from this to the Perfect Origin? The writing in this arc was better than the average Nisei writing, but then you get crazy shit like>Psychoguru constantly accusing his son of being fake, trying to kill him, then trying to kill himself after losing>Setting up Chaos with a backstory tied to the main villains as well as gradual character development only to suddenly kill him off and replace him with Kevin before his story reaches fruition>Mammothman quitting midmatch to join Phoenix and Mantaro learning the Muscle Spark foreshadowing a Nisei Scramble arc that would never get writtenThe difference between this and the Revival is night and day.
Very underwhelming ending. Big backstory drop to try to desperately characterize Thunder and Lightning at the tail-end of the arc, followed by absolutely no follow up once the 21st century characters left. The more I think about it, the more I get bothered by the Five Disasters' backstory more than I reasonably should; literally what was the point of going in that direction when the main characters have already resolved their personal issues with the 20th Century Idol Choujin, and why is this being done in the LAST VOLUME? Thunder has the rawest deal of being a rapebaby orphan that knows that his father (dead evil rapist) is responsible for most of his misery and that he'll never get any closure to that part of his identity, and he literally has no unique commentary/monologue outside of typical "muhahaha the good guys are infighting" despite most of the arc being centered around fathers and (future) sons infighting. I feel like if you're going to go with this approach, then Thunder needs to be enthusiastically interested of watching the 20th Century Idol Choujin hating on their successors, and needs to have some form of envy/disgust/jealousy when they eventually reconcile after the semi-finals.There's so little to be said about Lightning, considering the most unique characterization he ever gets is when he kills himself because he's too proud/evil to face turn and has nothing to fall back on (which I liked). I guess he just needs to have a more well-defined relationship with Thunder. Asides from that, it was a good final battle to end the arc on. Felt a bit drawn out at times, but it was good wrestling. Better than Nisei/10

The difference in writing quality and thematic relevancy between Boomer Neptuneman and the Goofy Goobers is pretty jarring. It almost feels like the arc was written around Neptuneman first (esp considering the heavy focus on legacy and parental bonds) and L&T were sort of added later.
